The Romney campaign released these excerpts of Ann Romney's speech, which she'll deliver tonight at the Republican convention in Tampa: Tonight I want to talk to you from my heart about our hearts.
I want to talk not about what divides us, but what holds us together as an American family. I want to talk to you tonight about that one great thing that unites us, that one thing that brings us our greatest joy when times are good, and the deepest solace in our dark hours.
Tonight I want to talk to you about love.
Mitt's dad never graduated from college. Instead, he became a carpenter.
He worked hard, and he became the head of a car company, and then the governor of Michigan.
When Mitt and I met and fell in love, we were determined not to let anything stand in the way of our life together.
I read somewhere that Mitt and I have a storybook marriage. Well, in the storybooks I read, there were never long, long, rainy winter afternoons in a house with five boys screaming at once. And those storybooks never seemed to have chapters called MS or Breast Cancer.

I have seen them all, the Bush-bots, Palinistas, Perry-bots (we called them Perry-dactus), Paul-bots and more recently the Romney-bots come out acting like the rest.
Now some of the ones who drive you nuts on Romney threads are crazed Palinistas thinking that she should have the nomination. Just another cult.
Speaking of cults, LDS is definitely a cult but on my list of problems with Romney being POTUS that one is pretty low. I am not sure of it's relevance.
Not a one of your posts has been about anything relevant, just snide personal stuff, just nasty nothings.
But I will tell you ...tonight after hearing Ann Romney speech I felt PRIDE like I did when Reagan was President and it has gave me faith that a change is coming..
I hope this site soon improves otherwise my visits will come to an end as well as support

I know EXACTLY how you feel. I feel the same. Romney sure wasnt my choice and I didnt vote for him, BUT now Ryan is in the picture and we have 2 choices and only 2. Give the Marxist Hussein 4 years as a lame duck( shudder at the thought) or vote for Romney and hope he can kick the anti-Colonialist Barry Soetoro back to Kenya. Its an easy choice for me.

I did NOT support Romney in the primaries. I am a conservative through and through. But what I do feel about the Romneys is that they are PERFECTIONISTS. They would not have gotten as far as they did if they weren’t And I do believe Mitt IS a DRIVEN type that is not going to golf, goof off, hang out in Hollywood or play basketball all day long, posing, or running off to vacations in Spain when he knows darn well this country needs so much work.
The man is going to work hard. He’s into legacies. It could get a little scary at times because he’s probably going to do some weird stuff here and there ....but there’s no doubt in my mind — these people are very well off, very hard working, and very driven to be successful. That could bode very well for this country in many ways.
And I think Ryan will offer the balance we need in terms of Mitt going all wonky lefty on us, as well as being able to handle the demonocrats in Congress.
So, give him a decent RED Senate and RED House, and let’s see where these two go!!
I agree with you totally, people are so hard headed, just can’t admit that they were wrong. How sad. Anne Romney is a genuine lady, a loving wife and mother. Just really lovely.
I've seen no one on this site deifying Romney, but I do see a handful of you demonizing him. So are you the pot or the kettle?
agreed
Great point, I love the speech that Huckabee gave last night, when he reminded everyone there is only one evangelical running on the Presidential tickets - Obama. Romney is a Christian by the way he lives. The fruit of a person’s life proves their true character. Romney has really good fruit, he is a true Christian.
I do go to church, and my pastor agrees with you, but I am not brainwashed, and I think for myself. Jesus will recognize Romney to be a Chrstian by how he has lived his life. The people who have a problem with that are the ones who are not real Christians. You never heard the story of the good Samaritian, did you. The point of that story was, who is the real Christian. It matters much more how a person lives their life, and the values the person has. This theme is repeated several times in the New Testament. Even in the old Testament, there were Kings who were not part of Judah, who were blessed by God, because they loved King David, and were blessed by it. People have got to learn to see things for themselves. That’s what has made this country great. Romney gets it, you don’t.
Bravo!!
Your first sentence was wonderful, I don’t know that I have ever seen anyone here say that, most pretend that their church has no awareness, or position on Mormonism, and typically nothing can penetrate their facade, your response is very clear and thoughtful on your part.
This is just a hint of the theology of Mormonism, do you think that all of Christianity is overlooking the Christian truth in it? Remember that Bishop Romney is a leader and a powerful figure of this theology, from a family based on being leaders and powerful figures in this religion, not some misinformed pew sitting victim. The money and sex based cult was created in 1830, to be extremely aggressive, in converting Christians from Christianity.
Here is what the Catholic church says about Mormonism, it is basically the same as how all Christian churches describe it.
ARE THE MORMONS CHRISTIAN?
No. Mormons are not Christians. The Mormons will claim to be Christian because they claim to follow Christ, and believe in the Bible. They say that Jesus is a god, but not THE God. They also believe that Lucifer is the brother of Jesus.
WHAT DO MORMONS BELIEVE?
Even God was once a Man like ourselves who evolved into a god.
By following all the rules and ordinances of God here, Mormon men and women have the potential of also becoming gods. As god once was, man is. As God is, man may become (Joseph Smiths words). Mormons believe that there are many worlds and many gods. Each god is similar to God the Father, having the same powers and omnipotence, and even being able to create their own worlds. Heavenly Father is only the name of the god who rules over this world.
See post 325 for one of many examples, this thread of the abortion supporting Ann, is even one of those, read some of the posts on this very thread glorifying her abortion loving, Planned Parenthood fundraising, dishonest, self.
There are some who misheard and believe instead that we are called to be "vinegar and water."
Regrettably some of the most vocal self-described Christians on FR are in the latter category.......
Some of the Christians that you try to silence on freerepublic, were Mormons when they first signed up.
Many other Christians were unaware and thought that Mormonism was just another Christian denomination, a part of the Christian family that argues about inches, like Catholics, Orthodox, and Baptist and Methodists. You are protecting a man that is truly convinced that he will become as God, and have a planet of worshipers, and who has devoted his life, and 10s of millions of dollars to convincing Christians that they too, can become Gods.
Mitt Romney is the Soros of Mormonism.
Questioning Mormon theology is quite alright with me. I've been convinced that Joe Smith made it all up for many years.
However, those who posit a fiendish Mormon conspiracy of which Romney is the knowing or unknowing spearhead are straying into tinfoil territory.
Now you are just making things up and using “tin foil” language in your defense of mormonism.
That is some strong support that you are offering them.
Admonishing your unChristian behavior does NOT equal supporting mormonism, mormon theology, or mormon teaching.s. It’s admoninishing YOUR behavior, attitude, and spirit. which is contrary to the scripture. (ice try again at deflecting. Post Paul’s writings where he encourages how u act.
Why are you supporting the muslim religion?
You admonish Christians in service to mormonism, what a self righteous warrior you are.
If you want to serve Christianity, then stand up to mormonism.
