China's state-controlled media lashed out at GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney Monday, warning that his policies would poison U.S.-China relations.
"By any standard, the U.S. Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney's China policy, as outlined on his official campaign website, is an outdated manifestation of a Cold War mentality," read a commentary in Monday's China Daily. "It endorses the China threat' theory and focuses on containing China's rise in the Asia-Pacific through bolstering the robust U.S. military presence in the region."
The Chinese state-owned outlet said that Romney was "provoking" China by promising to supply Taiwan with aircraft and other military platforms and called his China approach "pugnacious."

The Chinese media criticizing Romney is like the Taliban slamming Tim Tebow. Yes, we get it....You’re Communist, Obama is Communist, you both hate America, a declining America is a vulnerable America. Congratulations on yet another stellar endorsement, Barack!
And tell China to stick it in their bong and smoke it!
I’m not sure if that completely made sense but I enjoyed
saying it.
Substitute "opium pipe" for "bong".
We already are. Consumers have demonstrated over and over agin that they want cheap - period. Many a fine American small business has tried the "quality" angle and been driven into the ground by its low-priced competitors.
The problem is that appreciation for quality requires certain values, which are no longer being instilled or upheld by American society.
A shocking prospect... no bowing Obama!
“Not so. Destroy the unions here and prices go WAY down.”
I agree, but they won’t go down to the level of sweatshops in third world countries, or down to the level at which they can compete with those countries that are subsidizing whole industries.
I don’t think the Chinese government is really as naive as to believe Mitt’s campaign web site. They have to be play-acting to sway the American voter.
LOL!!!!!

Normally I'd agree. However, there's a very good chance that the Chinese are primarily interested in having good customers for their exports.
In this case I think the Chinese senior leadership, having seen firsthand where real communism leads, may be considerably less supportive of socialist economic policy than the leadership of the Democratic Party.
So what prompted this?
The realistic answer would be that China likes capitalist economics but considers Romney's military policy to be problematic. More speculative, maybe Huntsman, the former ambassador to China, Utah governor, and fellow Mormon with Mitt Romney, explained to the Chinese that Romney cannot be trusted to hold firmly to his stated positions?
“I agree, but they wont go down to the level of sweatshops in third world countries, or down to the level at which they can compete with those countries that are subsidizing whole industries.”
True. There won’t be any sweatshops. The NLRB and EEOC will see to that but prices will still drop drastically in our favor worldwide.
political theatre more for the sake of chinese people than americans. it is great that Romney says that he supports the taiwan relations act. but he said a lot of things. i still don’t remember the last time, ANY president has sell a significant number of advanced 2nd gen. arms to taiwan.
but of course, i haven’t been keeping up with it. seems like it has always be “pledge to sell” and then it ends up being tabled for later discussion.
Chavez hates Romney and has endorsed Obama
From the tone in the GOP circular firing squad lately it’s be hard to tell if you mean Linda or Hugo.
Hugo Chavez
It's almost enough to maybe start to consider rethinking Romney.
Sort of....
Maybe....
But I really doubt it.
It's just very curious..... If they're that opposed to him over something about him, it would appear that there's something about him that I missed.
It makes WAY too much sense. It'll never happen.
Huckabee doesn’t hate Romney, does he? He was speaking at the convention last night. From his speech, he says that although they were once opponents against each other, they are now fellow opponents against another opponent-the “other side”! (only paraphrasing)
