By Mr. Curmudgeon:
If you think government is so big it sucks all the oxygen out of the room ... you're an extremist. If you think green energy projects (like the failed Solyndra) are a waste of taxpayer money ... you're an extremist. If you think government mandates diminish individual freedom ... you're an extremist. If you think hard work and not roads, bridges and government employees - teachers - built your business ... you're an extremist. If you think it criminal for the American government to sell weapons to Mexican drug cartels ... you're an extremist. And finally, if you think voters should boot President Obama out of the White House and send him back to mean-streets Chicago this November ... you're ... well, you know the rest.
Recently, Obama took time away from granting interviews to serious news organizations like People magazine and Entertainment Tonight and spoke with the pipsqueaks at the Associated Press.
"I can't speak to Gov. [Mitt] Romney's motivations," said the president speaking to Gov. Romney's motivations, "What I can say is that he has signed up for positions, extreme positions that are very consistent with positions that a number of House Republicans have taken. And whether he actually believes in those or not, I have no doubt that he would carry forward some of the things that he's talked about," said Obama.
What a difference four years makes. The "extreme" label was once applied exclusively to those attending mass Tea Party rallies. Then those rally attendees elected a hefty Tea Party contingent to Congress in 2010, destroying Obama's governing Democratic majority. Even Republican politicians fear upsetting the sensibilities of the "extreme," least they end their careers in the fashion of Indiana's long-time Senator, Richard Lugar.
The latest polls show the president has lost the cherished independent voter, that the elderly see GOP vice presidential candidate Paul Ryan's Medicare reform as preferable to Obama's killing the entitlement program to fund ObamaCare, and the Tea Party continues its successful program to transform the GOP into a true small-government opposition party by defeating establishment Republicans in the primaries.
Obama can't run on his record. Insisting his economic programs have "worked" are met with stunned silence or laughter. His attacks on Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan aren't scaring voters as intended. Having run out of options, the president is attempting to link the GOP's top ticket to the Taxed-Enough-Already movement. Obama is officially running for re-election by running against the Tea Party.
Nearly one year ago, Obama encountered noisy Occupy Wall Street hecklers while delivering an address in Manchester, New Hampshire. "I appreciate you guys making your point," said Obama, "Let me go ahead and make mine." Obama reminded the movements' deranged followers, "You are the reason I ran for office."
Obama has put a profound question before the American people: "You have a choice this November. You can choose a Third World, authoritarian, banana republic vision for America offered by me and my friends at Occupy Wall Street or you can choose the Tea Party, which stands for fiscal responsibility and constitutional restraints on the power of government that fosters greater individual liberty and prosperity."
Offered such a stark choice, America's community organizer is certain to discover he is surrounded by a nation of "extremists."

Big deal. Romney’s running against the Tea Party himself!
And let’s see how liberal the Democrat convention gets. They are planning to push this birth control thing big time, with speakers such as head of Planned Parenthood and Sandra Fluke. They also expect to endorse homosexual marriage in the platform.
So, will it be a winning combo, to push abortion/birth control and homosexual marriage and global warming and other assorted liberal claptrap??? I guess we’ll see on November 6th.

I thought Corporal Cueball said the Tea Party was dead?
Run against me MF.
The Dems ran against the tea party in 2010 and got creamed.
I don’t see how it would be different in 2012.
“Obama Shifts Campaign Strategy: He’ll Run Against the Tea Party”
THAT will be a mistake.... Perfect!
Tea Party America will clean his clock for him, even IF Romney won’t!
Why not? He’s been running against George Bush for four years.
Obama has an ego-driven need to run against Strawman who are not even in the race.
Liberals need to create a “problem” only they can “solve”, because they can’t solve the real problems.
LMAO, ouch!
Will Obama ever run out of things to run against?
Obama to run against TEA party.
Hey not bad for “astroturf” eh.
After all, Mitt is more aligned with them, than the Tea Party.
Is this guy a professional at incompetence, or what?
Romney should run against the Occupy Wall Street folks.
The ones who live in tents and play bongos all day.
Those represent the average Obama supporter.
Exactly!
So how does Romney counter 0bama’s attacks on middle America when he himself will not be able to articulate a resonating message to those being attacked and draw them to his base?
I don’t think he can.
This could prove to be a shrewd move by 0.
To me, it looks like he's almost on the verge of panic.
I love the smell of flop-sweat in the morning. it smells like... VICTORY!
That means we have them right where we want them. We have them surrounded!
What Clown shift number is this? Anyone keeping track......who cares.
Gub mints waaay too big and obammy sucks
Guess I’m a freaken extremist.
