Priebus on Akin: “He Could Be Tied, We’re Not Going To Send Him A Penny”

"In an interview for Revealing Politics today, RNC Chairman Reince Priebus was asked, among other things, if the party’s position on Akin would eventually change if Akin refused to step out of the race: The question is: “If he stays in, is your position eventually going to change? Are you going to have to support him? The Chairman replies “No, no. No. He could be tied. We’re not going to send him a penny.”

“If he refuses to step aside, let him pull out a victory, if he can, with his own resources, and the resources of whomever he can personally persuade to help out.

But NO party money should go to this clown. NO Republicans should tar themselves with his brush. He’s got as much brainpower as Joe Biden. Maybe.”

There is no upside for the GOP to get anywhere near this guy. He is a nightmare for everyone but Dems.

“Akin didn’t bring it up. A gotcha question from a reporter did.”

This is another falsehood floating around, that it was a gotcha question. Did you watch the interview? It was a straight forward question, which Akin totally blew. The reporter didn’t even follow up on his comment. Come on, he couldn’t even handle a simple question dealing with one of the main themes of his campaign.
That is a cry baby excuse.

“Makes the Dems’ stereotypical “Republicans are Neanderthals” argument for them. It’s not just about Akin and HIS desires.”

Some people just can’t grasp that concept.

“Women will not ovulate under certain circumstances. What is so hard to understand about that? The body will miscarry a baby under certain circumstances. What is so hard to understand about that? You don’t think stress can effect a pregnancy? You are undereducated in the neurobiological systems of the human species.”

My advice to all the die hard supporters of Akin, if you want to follow the theme you espouse, is to pool your resources and produce an ad for Akin expressing the view that he was scientifically right in his comments.
I’m sure he would appreciate the help.

Akin should have been a patriot and stepped down but he put his own personal ambitions ahead of the country. What a hack.

Romney/Ryan have a good shot at running the table. The presidency, the senate, the house and then the supremes.
This is a once in a lifetime opportunity and to let some moronic hack like Akin screw it up is unacceptable.

He was told what was going to happen if he didn’t bow out. He had his chance to be a good guy. Now he needs to be made an example of..cut him off at the knees. Not a dime ever. If he wins on his own..no chairmenships...no office...no staff. Don’t even give him a bathroom key.

At this point of the cycle we can’t afford another repub candidate pulling an Akin. By not showing any mercy you will make sure no other Repub pulls this nonsense and it will also strike fear into the dems and the MSM. Romney/Ryan/Priebus are deadly serious about winning it all.

There is no upside for the GOP to get anywhere near this guy.

But there is an upside for the people of Missouri as he will represent them more than he would bow to the GOPe. That is a plus.

He is a nightmare for everyone but Dems.

No -- He is a nightmare for the Dems and the GOPe, but not the people of Missouri who like independents.

This is no longer about the L-word gaffe but about the over-reach of the GOPe.

“’s already out there. Every radio station in every area of the state is discussing it.”

What they are discussing, as we are on many threads on this site, is the controversy, not Akin’s message that he wants too get out, but the message that was espoused by Akin during that radio interview.

Akin is a virus stay away from him.

He is still on the ballot and will more than likely remain there. Only he can withdraw. So now what genius? Do we continue to attack him and make sure he loses or do we support him against McCaskill even it just means attacking McCaskill without mentioning Akin.

At what point are you going to at least stop attacking him? Even Mark Levin says now is time to start supporting the guy who is infinitely better than McCaskill.

We can only go around this tree so many times. I will make a predictiion. Akin will close the gap with McCaskill to be much closer than the current 9 points. Win or lose, it will be a close election.

“This is no longer about the L-word gaffe but about the over-reach of the GOPe.”

The new code word now, is that Akin is a virus, come in contact with him and you will become infected.
The GOP is administering the cure right now. Isolation until the virus dies.

I noticed, that you didn’t predict that Akin would win. If he gets within 5 pts it will be because McCaskill will withhold her attack until after Sep 25th, then all hell will be unleashed against him.
Remember, she has over 12 million in unspent campaign funds, he probably has less than 2 million.

So you are telling me that republicans in Missouri are going to vote for McCaskill over Akin? Not a snow-balls chance of that happening.

What they are discussing, as we are on many threads on this site, is the controversy, not Akin’s message that he wants too get out

The controversy has become the message which is:

What gives the GOPe the right to demand that a candidate legally elected by the people of Missouri resign so that they can replace him with one of their own lackeys???

If you take all his money away.

You seem to WANT to lose the seat.

I bet your face looks weird.

How many times have you cut off your nose to spite it, anyway?

Wow — a longtime conservative Republican with a 97.24% ACU rating and with a stellar military record and sons with West Point degrees serving in the military. Should they be isolated and put in the brig as well for their virus???

You are right about one thing — the virus. This story has gone viral and to the GOPe’s dismay along with this one on Rush right now:

He's the candidate, and he ain't leaving.

You are saying that, because he won't leave, you want to lose the seat.

Doesn't matter how much you lie about it. It's obvious.

The GOP wants to overturn the results of the primary because they don't like who the MO GOP selected.

They are using this misstatement as a pretext.

The election is Mich. was suppose to be over because of a GOP gaffe as well, but he is now coming back.
