"In an interview for Revealing Politics today, RNC Chairman Reince Priebus was asked, among other things, if the partys position on Akin would eventually change if Akin refused to step out of the race: The question is: If he stays in, is your position eventually going to change? Are you going to have to support him? The Chairman replies No, no. No. He could be tied. Were not going to send him a penny.

I would agree that Akin’s remarks were so toxic— that is for everyone but me apparently. In years of my life after WWII I have heard many foolish/stupid political remarks so I must be immune from toxic statements by politicians and others. There has been so much blabber over the years about abortion, start of life/humans, woman’s right to choose, etc, etc, etc, that what has developed is that the issue(s?) are what anyone wants to make of them. I don’t give Akins credit for much smarts even though he raised a very down to earth trditional USA family. I don’t give Romney, Palin and other politicians any credit for how to handle a person making arguable comments and wonder about their ability to understand and deal with crisis. Frankly I care more about what people intend to do to the USA then what or why people want to twist the issue of abortion for any purpose. People will do what they want to do one way or another.
I'm not sure exactly how biologically ignorant the Senator actually is. He might not be aware of the details, but perhaps his notions should be given a bit more credance.
Here are two articles posted to FR recently.

Now, unless one is willing to say that rape is not stressful, then perhaps the body does have a natural defence against it.
While I don't particularly care about the senator in question because I don't know anything about him to speak of, I might just start spamming this information to relevant threads. He may will be an idiot, but he could be right as well.
Oh, you thought that when the RNC and the other folks said “Get out!” and Todd said “No!” and they said “Fine, then, we’re cutting off your funds!” and he said “Fine, then, screw all y’all, butt out, God and my supporters will provide!” and they said “Well...’bye...”, they were just kidding about the “Well...’bye...”? You thought he could tell the RNC and those other guys “screw all y’all” and not actually suffer any consequences from it. Sort of like you thought he could just hang tough and this would all blow over in a week or so.
Oops.
“All the GOP has to do is point out that is a MO issue, not a national one.”
...either way if the GOP funds Akin, it will be used against them nationally
I CAN”T believe you are SAYING this.
History is FULL of cases of MILLIONS of women getting raped in war and producing children. It happened so many times that those exceptions you are quoting are so rare that stating what Aiken stated is totally idiotic.
Aiken is a horse’s ass for not anticpating the furor that what he stated would create. He is a horse’s ass for even THINKING it.
I have two degrees in the biological sciences and am a student of history so I know that what he said and what you are imputing is PREPOSTEROUS.
Please tell me that he didn't say that.
Two degrees in women’s biology? Millions of children from rape in the history of the world with 11 billion people now on the earth.
I didn’t say it NEVER happens. What we want to say is that there are women who cry wolf!
“...either way if the GOP funds Akin, it will be used against them nationally”
Over and over and over again.
So what!
Fact-there is still 3 months till Nov. and many conservatives are going to send money to Akins instead of the RNC.
Not those exact words, but I think it’s a synonymous statement to the original post here.
He's not winning; he's not going to be winning. He's a traitor to the party and the causes he claims to represent.
I fully agree with you. The whole issue is about #84 on my priority list, but for a lot of people on both sides of the debate it’s not only #1, it’s #only.
You're smarter than that pappy. Even if he were to win, he'd be relegated to the senate subcommittee on fruit flies for the rest of his career. Senatorial power doesn't come from floor votes.
