"In an interview for Revealing Politics today, RNC Chairman Reince Priebus was asked, among other things, if the partys position on Akin would eventually change if Akin refused to step out of the race: The question is: If he stays in, is your position eventually going to change? Are you going to have to support him? The Chairman replies No, no. No. He could be tied. Were not going to send him a penny.

The comment was even if Akin’s was tied, the RNC wouldn’t support him-so it isn’t a matter of the seat being unwinnable, this is something far more, it is ideological.

The comment can easily be deflected by stressing the real issue, Obamacare.
Americans are concerned about their health care, not a misstatement on rape.

All the GOP has to do is point out that is a MO issue, not a national one.

He never said pregnancy CANNOT happen because of 'legimate rape' (violent rape) he said it was rare due to the stress.
Amazing how people just listen to the MSM and not get the true story.

Will this lying cause my nose to grow back?

And to those on FR who are bashing him, it seems you are very unconcerned with the actual fact.

They are more afraid of his statement being tied to the other candidates. So, even if he is tied in MO, if they support him, it might hurt Brown in MA. Also, they made a threat, an ill-considered threat, but now they have to stick with it. These things don't happen in a vacuum. BTW, I don't approve of the RNC reaction, but I understand it.

Yes, there are many who want Akin to lose since their primary candidate didn’t win or are anti-conserivative.

You overestimate the national impact of this comment.
State elections are State elections and each has their own dynamic.
You don't pull the plug on a State that is winnable.

Next time a republcian tells me I have to support a liberal, statist republican because they are so much better than the liberal, statist democrat, I'll just point them to this article. I'm sorry, but the standard fear tactics aren't inducing me to play their game any more.

Oh, don’t worry about those facts, those are meaningless, you guys have taught me that.
Fact: No money
Fact: 10 pts down in the polls
Fact: No on the ground support (which is provided by the state and county GOP not the candidate).
Fact: His opponent has 7 times as much money as he does.
Fact: He will have no support from any other GOP candidate.
Fact: He is toxic. a virus.
But other than that who cares about facts.

No. The RNC does. In fact they enabled it going wider and for longer. It would have been more of a problem if it happened in October. But again, this is about them maintaining credibility with their punishments. They don't want any more Sharon Angles or Christine O'Donnells, but at the same time they will be losing the Rand Pauls and Ron Johnsons.
