The Beginning of the End

Today marks the beginning of the end of Campaign 2012. This week, here in Tampa, Republicans will go through a well scripted event designed to make Mitt Romney their nominee. Democrats will reciprocate next week in Charlotte, NC.
The GOPs convention almost became unscripted with a heavy handed move designed to ensure a coronation and shut out the grassroots from nomination fights. According to press reports, the Romney campaign is in retreat on this issue and the grassroots have won. They should not get complacent.
Regardless of that hiccup, the energy in Tampa is much different from 2008.
In 2008, the crowd had a lot of energy for Sarah Palin, but little for John McCain. Privately, the crowd would whisper that the odds were against them. Here in Tampa, the crowd is struggling with a feeling of victory. They think they can win.
Both sides think they can win, but privately, in real and honest assessments, even the base is capable of a reality check. The reality check in Tampa is that momentum is with the GOP. The Democrats, unable to run against the economy, intend to make the election about the female uterus, not an economic recovery. At 8.3% unemployment, people are much more interested in putting food on their tables than over killing kids.
The mood in Tampa is upbeat and not just in public.
This is the beginning of the end. We are now in the homestretch for Campaign 2012. Thank God it is almost over.

We may indeed thank God it's nearly over; however, we must pray that the White Hut usurper is soundly defeated.
The Democrats will blame everything on Bush 43 and continue with thie evil regime's politics of scorched earth. Discussion of their 'accomplishments' will be verboten as these past 3+ years have been horrible regression into evil.

Yes, we should work to defeat 0bama. As lame as our nominee is 0bama must be defeated.
What I fear though is that ‘soundly’ defeating 0bama is just the beginning and it is this truth we must surrender too.
Some 47% or more of our nation no longer believes in how our nation was founded, nor the principals on which truly freemen live.

MYTH: Who leaps out?
Scott Toomey: Uh, Ken Mehlman, R. Clarke Cooper, Meghan McCain, Mary Cheney and I. Uh, leap out of the log cabin, uh and uh....
MYTH: Oh....

There are people here on FR who would rather see 0bama win just to prove a pointI used to notice a "darkest before the dawn" mentality by some - meaning when things get so bad people will have to come around to our way of thinking.
I don't see that much of late, perhaps because things HAVE gotten so bad.

You’re right. We have good people who say they will not help defeat Obama.
It leads me to believe that true evil is at work.

If principle is merely “proving a point” to you, then you deserve the political black hole that we are in. I’m free at last.

Uhuh. Because every day their base of DemocRATs grows.
>>White Hut usurper is soundly defeated.
The White Hive's deseretian King won't be much of an improvement.
Look at the crap the Bishop who would Bee King and his minions tried pulling out of their arse to consolidate their Fabian power on the convention floor.
Either way, the next four years are going to bee the most corrupt and dangerous in this Republic's history.
ETERNAL VIGILANCE.

"There are people here on FR who would rather see 0bama win just to prove a point" What a terrible point to prove. With the ages of our supreme court justices 3 or 4 at 78 & bader-ginsburg at 81, the next president could appoint at least 2 if not more justices. What an impact that would have on our nation, children & grand kids. Think long & hard on that tid-bit Romney isn't my first choice but given the alternative, I rather Romney made those appointments than 0'bimbo for sure.

They can’t even tell you what the Berlin Wall was - or why the Soviets had to build it to keep their bipedal state property inside.
Useful Idiots.

You have far more good people here who were TOLD to stay away.
You need to fix that problem first.
Remember, the belief that the Forces of Romney wanted to lose arose out of hearing their blather and watching what they did.

It’s more than 47% ~ the folks who have no idea what the Berlin Wall was about are, true enough, Democrats, but they are also ALL the GOP-e. They share a naive view of history and imagine that if it happened in the past it will never happen again.

It has nothing to do with principle; It is selfishness. Romney was not my first choice or second choice. But as an adult who has to make adult decessions, there is no other choice I can make. Life doesn’t always give us perfect choices, in fact it rarely does.
I have two choices, 0bama or Romney. Like the song says “If you choose not to decide, you still have made a choice”.
One of the men is going to win on Nov 6th. The better choice for America is Romney.

What I fear though is that soundly defeating 0bama is just the beginning and it is this truth we must surrender too. Most conservatives do not realize the power that has grown in Mordor on the Potomac.
I just spent four days there. It's one of my favorite cities (YMMV). I've been spending time there since I was a teenager in the 60s.
Three things impressed me:
1) The sheer SCALE of it all. When I was young, the executive departments fit along Constitution and Independence. Now, they stretch out to beyond Rockville, beyond Vienna, almost to Baltimore.
2) The sheer WEALTH of Arlington and Fairfax counties, and NW DC. Rents in white DC are higher than in white Manhattan. Practically every ranch house within a mile of Lee Highway has been torn down and replaced with a mini mansion, or is under agreement for same.
3) The size of the workforce. I drove out 270 Monday morning, and for an hour, on the other side, a river of Federal orcs, seemingly without end, crawling in to Mordor to loot us, control us, and most importantly to continue to rewrite the rules so that elections won't matter.
It may well be that voting for Congress, whose power is shrinking by the hour, and electing a President of the right (political) hue, will not reverse the growth and power of this imperial city. They will not go without a fight.
