I’m not a Paul fan at all but this is as it should be. Elitism has been given a smack in the nose.
It Pees me off though that the elites would even bring up such an outlandish idea. I consider it unAmerican.
Just received a similar message from my state senator who is a delegate in Tampa. He is satisfied that the offensive rule will not be instituted.
floor fight? Or no one challenges Romney fight.
Did we win?
Thanks for posting this.
Glad that the rule has not been instituted but should we not look at one of the main proponents of this monstrosity - Ben Ginsberg, top lawyer for the Romney campaign! This has nothing to do whether one should vote for Romney or not to get rid of Obama but we should be fully aware of WHO we are dealing with - eyes wide open.
That’s a relief AND what a lame-brained idea the original rule was! Who thought that one up?!
Malkin’s article was also talking about a second rule change where the party could have a vote to change rules any time they want instead of waiting until the convention. If that wasn’t also blocked, then it seems like the elites could just vote to put the other rule back into effect whenever they want. So the grass roots might be getting played on this “deal” like conservatives usually do.
Steve Deace mentioned another rule change coming from Romney that allows the nominee to veto the party platform.
The Big Lie.
Tokyo Rove needs to roll up and ... just go away, permanently.
Mark Levin is PISSED....and a caller said....VOTE FOR the MINORITY report....to save the party and the grassroots....from what I understand.
” - - - Frankly, we find it hard to understand how your delegations would be willing to give away their rights.
And so the first volley has been fired to re-take the Republican Party by replacing the Republicans In Name Only, who insist that everybody tows the Party line: “MY party, Right or Wrong.”
This time we won, and it feels GOOD!
Thank goodness. Ben Ginsburg should be fired for attempting to impose such an elitist rule. I don’t expect him to be fired, but he definitely deserves it.
I see my best friend is the Texas lady leading the charge to prevent that new rule from being adopted. She is special.
Sounds like this has squashed any last ditch hopes of a brokered convention. Part of the “compromise” was that any delegate who did not vote for Mittens would be considered to have resigned his position. I do not know if this means they are not allowed to abstain though.
Update: 10:53pm Eastern So heres the upshot. As you read above in Drews summary, grass-roots activists revolted over Rule 15 (the delegate selection provision to be renumbered Rule 16) and Rule 12 (the power grab that would allow the RNC to make executive convention rule changes and rewrite the rules between conventions without any input/consultation with grass-roots, delegates, or state leadership on hand).
A source tells me the situation on the ground and in delegate meetings right now is tense and dynamic.
As long as the proposed Rule 12 remains in place, this deal or compromise should be a no-go. Dont back down, activists!

Obvious many unhappy with primary results expect a childish do-over and/or power-sharing -
Losers demanding “a piece of da action” or else -
I have already arranged to trigger my positions so that I shall profit well either way in November - and through January with the likely land mines if the left loses -
As for my personal wish - it is that those “useful idiots” of Obama on FR and elsewhere are crushed by Obama if he wins -
I just received a statement today that shows my strategy has worked wonderfully again this last month and I have fine-tuned it and added even more aggression to it now -
All the Paulistas, liberterian druggies, and 3rd party fools can and will dream the impossible dreams of a Fairy Princess, Pope, or bloated “big idea” has-been with serial zipper control problemos that will forfill their fondest dreams and waste their remaining days and futures -
So go vote for Obama and get over yourselves - keep on taking a leak upstream -
I shall just keep it simple and concentrate on counting cards and reading the tea leaves.....

Update: 11:53pm Eastern Sarah Palin weighs in while campaigning on the road in Arizona.
From her Facebook page:
We have to remember that this election is not just about replacing the party in power. Its about who and what we replace it with. Grassroots conservatives know this. Without the energy and wisdom of the grassroots, the GOP would not have had the historic 2010 electoral victories. Thats why the controversial rule change being debated at the RNC convention right now is so very disappointing. Its a direct attack on grassroots activists by the GOP establishment, and it must be rejected.

The sheep would like nothing more than to simply be able to leisurely eat the grass in the pasture yet, instead, they know they have to constantly be on alert.
It's also good to see the sheepdogs are doing their job well.
