SCHLAFLY: Republican Party platform best yet [Someone want to argue Phyllis is a RINO?]
Washington Times ^ | 8/27/12 | Phyllis Schlafly

Reagan’s three-legged stool upheld

The Republican Party platform may be the best one ever adopted. The party has long since learned that fiscal, social and sovereignty issues cannot be ignored or separated, but must be addressed as all part of a national campaign.

The media may have forgotten (or chosen to forget) that Ronald Reagan’s big victories, including his 49-state victory in 1984, were based on a three-legged stool of dealing directly with all three clusters of issues.

The 2012 platform adopted the identical pro-life language that has been in the platform since the late Rep. Henry Hyde inserted it in 1984 in Dallas. It affirms that “the unborn child has a fundamental individual right to life which cannot be infringed.”

Phyllis Schlafly is as pro-life as anyone in the conservative movement.

She has been fighting feminazis since the 1970s.

Anyone really going to attack HER as being a "sellout" and a RINO?

The Republic is at stake...we have to defeat Obama, even if that means putting a less than perfect nominee in the White House.

Too bad the platform doesn’t mean squat.

The platform says one thing while the party does the opposite.

In 2008 they made lots of noise about a strong border control stance in the platform right before nominating Mr Amnesty himself.

The platform is just what the bull leaves on the road.

This platform, the selection of Ryan, and now the backing down on the rules change make holding my nose a bit easier.

Newt’s contract with America was a realistic platform that actually had teeth and held Republican candidates accountable to it. The Rep Pols were so disturbed by this they kicked the guy out of congress and out of the party.

Riiiight.

So when the Demonrats adopt a pro-sodomite, pro-infanticide platform, we are to just shrug it off and say “doesn’t mean squat”? Sure.

Or, conversely, if the Republicans had put in their platform the lines “We reject biblical marriage, think sodomy ought to be taught in schools to kindergarten kids, and infanticide up to three years outside the womb is okay”, then you’d be cool with it—since the platform doesn’t mean squat?

Gimme a break.

I’ll trust Schlafly. She has plenty of experience in these matters.

Phyllis is one to trust when it comes to Republican platforms. If she says its a conservative platform, then it is.

Of course, the platform means nothing when it comes to policy that will be implemented by Romney and RINO GOP leaders in Congress.

I would love a link to the current text of the platform if anybody has one.

“Too bad the platform doesn’t mean squat.”

Platforms are pretty important to me. When I am asked how on earth I could be a Republican, by aghast liberals, I can quickly explain that I agree with most if not all of the current Republican platform, and basically nothing in the Democratic platform.

It’s an honest answer and helps people to realize I vote thoughtfully, not just over vague notions of who is for the little guy or how my parents voted.

The gop is playing on the fence. They put out a good platform, but it’s all smoke and mirrors because romney is pro-abortion, pro-gay. romney does not have to do what the plaform says, and he won’t. Whose going to light the fire on romney’s feet since he’s gone left already? All those people around here who promised to fight him if he goes left changed their mind and is supporting him instead. At least we KNOW he lied about being conservative and won’t be mad at ourselves for voting for a liberal. I never voted for someone who thinks killing an innocent baby and pushing the gay agenda is ok, and never will.

Phyllis Schlafly is a real conservative....of course, that is why you don’t hear or see her as much on GOP Media anymore

Without Schlafly...I do not think you would have had Reagan win in 1980. She was truly the leader of the new conservative movement of the ‘70s

Though, you can bet our Liberal RINOs will be attacking her for supporting Todd Akin in the primary...and after the GOP Media trashed him

Now, lets hope the GOPe listens to Schlafly and actually follows the platform

Problem is Romney came out to the press and said he supports abortion in cases of rape, incest, the life of the mother and the HEALTH of the mother. That last one is a classic loophole to make abortion legal in all circumstances, since the mother can claim her "mental health" will be impacted. Even Paul Ryan has explained how that kind of exception is guaranteed to be used as such a loophole. Romney has to think conservatives are absolute idiots to think that his abortion stance is a conservative one. It's essentially the same thing as Bill Clinton's desire to make abortion "safe, rare and legal." Romney's new position announced just hours ago is in effect a 100% pro-choice position.

Phyllis Schlafly is permanently a conservative heroine. She is NOT a RINO. Nor is she a sellout.

That having been said, I rather doubt that Phyllis preferred Myth Romney as the GOP candidate. She is 88 years old. If she lives to 92 and retains all her marbles, I would expect that she will publicly recognize what a despicable POS Romney is. If elected, he will give her PLENTY of reason. He is not merely "a less than perfect candidate." He is an almost perfectly bad and leftist candidate.

Romney’s campaign clarified that with a press release later.

The person who sent out the press release also sent out one earlier in the campaign boasting about Romney’s STATE-run healthcare law. Many here on FR screamed bloody murder over that press release.

If you are willing to believe the press release boasting about the health law (state run), then you ought to be willing to believe the one that clarified the abortion position.
