“Too bad the platform doesn’t mean squat.”
Platforms are pretty important to me. When I am asked how on earth I could be a Republican, by aghast liberals, I can quickly explain that I agree with most if not all of the current Republican platform, and basically nothing in the Democratic platform.
It’s an honest answer and helps people to realize I vote thoughtfully, not just over vague notions of who is for the little guy or how my parents voted.
That is exactly why they have them. Just promises made, rairly kept.
