Well, you know the old saying, “Two can keep a secret if one of them is dead.”
These people were beyond stupid to start with.
The prosecutor said the militia group had big plans. It plotted to take over Fort Stewart by seizing its ammunition control point and talked of bombing the Forsyth Park fountain in nearby Savannah, she said. In Washington state, she added, the group plotted to bomb a dam and poison the state's apple crop. Ultimately, prosecutors said, the militia's goal was to overthrow the government and assassinate the president.
Crackpot scheme. After taking over the fort, the element of surprise would be gone, their identities (and those associated with them) would be known, and they would find it difficult to get near the president. "Overthrow" is a big word. You and what army are going to be able to stage successful coup?
"Big plans".
When anarchists had plans to firebomb the 2008 GOP convention and to kidnap delegates, none of it made the national news. Even when they were subsequently convicted of their crimes.
” the militia group”
What was militia about them?
“...poison the state’s apple crop...”
GA’s a big state. I wonder how they planned on doing that?
One is too fat, and the other, too weak, to be infantry-related. They look like a couple of rear-echelon types (examples: clerks, service/supply/maintenance).
The way to win the war, is in the mind. We have demographics and a Marxist media working against us, but we have the internet and meme-creation working for us.
Washington state. Which is even bigger.
Interesting timing on this story - watch for more of them to flood the media thereby burying the GOP convention.
Their plans have been leaked to the internet:
1 - acquire guns
2 - cause mayhem
3 - ?
4 - PROFIT!
Weren’t they in GA? I must have mis-read the article...
They were in GA, but article says were planning to poison apple crop in WA. Not many apples grown in GA. Peaches.
Don’t know why they were planning an offensive on the other side of the country.
Bozos like this invariably have delusions of grandeur/adequacy whereby they are capable of “overthrowing the government” and such. In actual fact, if the entire police and military were to disappear tomorrow, these guys couldn’t pull it off because the rest of us wouldn’t let them.
Who wants to be ruled by morons like this?
About the only more delusional version of revolutionary fever I can think of is the 60s radicals who apparently thought they were going to overthrow the system by partying it to death.
“3 - ?
4 - PROFIT!”
Books? A movie?
AboutPROFIT is used in numbered lists to explain how to reach a goal. The basic template is:
1. Step one
2. Step two
3. ????
4. PROFIT!!!Origin
This meme comes directly from South Parks season 2, episode 17 (30th in total) which aired on December 16th, 1998. In this particular episode, the childrens underwear are being stolen from them by gnomes for the purpose of profit.
The process, as explained by thee gnomes goes something like this.
Step 1. Collect underpants.Step 2. ?
Step 3. PROFIT
The gnomes lack of a business plan is used as a foil to the other main theme of the episode, a focus on large corporations. While the character Tweeks parents are busy trying to figure out how their small coffee shop will compete with the giant Harbucks corporation (Starbucks Parody) the Gnomes illustrate a satire on crazy, unfounded money-making schemes.
Almost as soon as the episodes had aired, journalists were already using the South Park reference to describe the shortcomings of companies that failed in the big dot com collapse. In short, those who failed to develop a coherent strategy for collecting profit were behaving like Underpants Gnomes.
Today, the meme is typically used in forums or comments sections as a response that implies sarcastic disregard for the utility or purpose of a post.
The fact that this behavior has had such a huge staying power online and also outside of the context of South Park is what makes this an Internet Meme.
This would appear to be about the extent of their "big plans" HLS/Reuters spoke so highly of.
By the way, the media completely ignored the 40th anniversary of the Pentagon (this year) by Barack Obama's pal, Bill Ayers. Why was that?
I'm truly deprived. I've never seen that 'South Park' TV show, even once. HTG, I've meant to, but I haven't. After 10-15 x 7, for 21yrs, I just never got around to it. Now that I'm retired, I'm going to look it up on YT and watch a few clips.
I haven’t seen much South Park myself, didn’t even like the show when it first hit the air (it would be on at a friend’s after some other cartoon) and I couldn’t even understand the voices.
Many years later, I’d see some on broadcast tv in syndication (after Seinfeld reruns) and it would remain on while I was on the internet.
I haven’t owned a tv for over 4 years.
I didn’t know the original episode (or if I did, I’ve since forgotten), but I’ve seen enough references to the meme that I understand it (same with the “Aliens!” guy from the History channel).
It was in that context that I was suggesting that their “big plans” Al Reuters boasted of were sorely lacking consideration to lead to SUCCESS/PROFIT.
Islamist terrorist plots don’t seek to overthrow the US government, they seek to instill terror in the populace, kill the kufir, and sway the public against Israel and action in the Middle East.
Their primary goal is “to kill”, not to instill a “replacement regime”. Far easier to reach “PROFIT”.
I though the MB did that in Egypt and are now trying to overthrow/replace what’s-his-name in Syria. And Hezbollah in Lebanon. No?
Muslim Brotherhood in the Middle East are a multi-national political movement (like Communism).
Communists in America during the Cold War had an ally in Uncle Joe Stalin.
Islamists in America don’t have enough sway with the Middle East to successfully stage a revolutionary war to demolish the US government. Partnered with an Islamic nation using a nuclear bomb, they have a little more power. Allied with China or Russia, perhaps a little more.
But DOMESTIC Islamist terrorist attacks seek to instill terror, kill the kufir, and possibly sway political support against Israel and the Saudi royals. Little else at this time.
