Karl Rove predicts historic loss for Todd Akin

TAMPA, Fla.— Karl Rove on Monday predicted Rep. Todd Akin will lose by the widest margin of any Republican candidate in modern history if he remains in his Missouri Senate race against Sen. Claire McCaskill.

“What he said was indefensible and the way he handled it made it worse,” Rove told POLITICO’s Mike Allen at the first POLITICO Playbook Breakfast at the Republican National Convention.

“This is a program that he taped and obviously he saw nothing wrong with it in his tape,” Rove said, pointing out that Akin didn’t respond to the taped interview until two days later.

Rove said Akin has no option other than getting out of the race.

But his opponent is a baby-murder supporting, Obama ass-kissing liberal who will NOT repeal Obamacare, GOT IT???

Pick one.

How about this: Akin gets out of the race and is replaced by a pro-life Republican who hasn't shown his stupidity, who will vote to repeal Obamacare and is capable of defeating the Democrat.

We need the Missouri seat. Akin will lose. He'ss a dumbass down by at least 10 points. He will not recover.

What was Rove’s opinion on the selection of Ryan as VP?

If Romney loses Missouri because of this ...

He will have only Karl Rove to blame.

Right now due to the withholding of funding, the Leftwaffe of McCaskill and Obama control the skies above.

When was the last time Tokyo Rove was right?

About anything?

The last time he was right about a political race with national consequences was in the last election cycle.

Christine O'Donnell lost the November 2010 U.S. Senate election in Delaware to Chris Coons by 17 points.

Yeah, you're right. Rove doesn't known squat.

My guess is that Rove is way off on this, unless he actually starts doing ads for McCaskill. Which could happen.

Wouldn't that be an interesting turn of events???

(A) A person makes an error, accepts responsibility for it, makes good the harm he has done to others (to the extent possible) and credibly demonstrates an intention to not repeat it - Forgive and forget

(B) A person makes an error, either denies he made an error at all or says “I am sorry you misinterpreted what I said or did” or something to that effect - do not forgive, do not forget

Clearly, the Democrats are in category (B). They make non-stop hate-filled accusations such as race-baiting, scaring old folks and women, describing Republicans as terrorists, etc., etc., without even embarrassment. Bill Clinton, who would be anathema in our party for his abuse of women, is touted as one of their champions. We NEVER invited Richard Nixon back. He betrayed us as well as the country.

Clearly Todd Akin is not in category (B). But, I am not sure he is in category (A). He let us all down by his gaffe, and he might not be able to make amends by restoring his electability. He may only be able to make amends by withdrawing.

Karl Rove does not do our cause any service by elevating the rhetoric. If Akin doesn’t get it (that he has ruined our opportunity to take this seat from the Democrats), he really might be as stupid as his remark about pregnancy and rape makes him appear to be. But, if he’s just being over-emotional about it, then toning down the rhetoric, speaking with kindness, might work.

the fact is NOT conservative, rino, or liberal with regards to akin.

the fact is that akin is an idiot and a fool.

He is a low IQ politicial who is an egomaniac. He only cares about himself.

Conservative stand or RINO never enters the equation.

If Akin loses I want to see EACH Akin supporter write their own mea culpa which would include the admission that not all people who want him to drop out are ESTABLISHMENT types.

Not a chance. If Akin loses, it will be because of the establishment Republican @ssh0les that currently run the GOP. I'm glad they reminded me for why I am NOT voting for the top of this ticket. The GOP-e is every bit as bad for America as the Democrat party--because they are one in the same.

I agree it is time to shutup about it, but Rove is right. Akin has no chance to win. He is also hurting Romney and other GOP candidates by staying in the race. I heard Akin on local talk radio today. His “party boss” mantra is BS and he is who is dividing the party. It is almost like he WANTS to divide the party. He had the support of the GOP establishment and all the GOP until he said something so indefensibly stupid and completely damaging. That is why funding was pulled. He needs to take responsibility for his own stupidity and quit his dang whining. He is either completely delusional, dumb as a rock, or completely self-centered.

I’m all for completely ignoring Akin. Too bad the mainstream media will continue to try to hang his idiotic comments around the neck of the entire GOP.

Ahh good. I was beginning to think Akin was toast. Now if Dick Morris would weigh in as well, it would guarantee Akin’s win.

Protecting life within the womb is not a black or white thing, as you imply.

Here is what I object to Akin’s statement: That a woman who is pregnant by what she claims was a rape must not actually have been raped because the woman’s body shuts down when there is an actual rape (he used the word “legitimate” rape).

Now, do I believe the state should protect life from conception? No, I do not. Without debating the merits, I am with the large majority of Americans that are somewhere between the protect life from conception position, and the allow abortion for any reason at any time and pay for it by taxes position.

Given the realities of our two-party system, “soft pro-lifers” such as myself generally support “hard pro-lifers” who win our party’s primaries, and expect visa versa. But, supporting a candidate (with my financial resources) who re-victimizing women who have been raped is another thing.

The Dems and the media will make sure that Akin goes down in history as the guy who thinks there is such a thing as legitimate rape.

But, if this one seat is the difference between a Republican vs a Democrat majority and Obama is returned to the White House, then Akin will have only himself to blame for going down in history for facilitating the rape of the Republic.

some hard lifers cant compromise, some have favored the rape, incest and life of the mother exceptions because they know they alienate the soft lifers otherwise.
in Missouri, I wonder how many magic uterus hard lifers there are vs. normal hard lifers and soft lifers.
