My only concern is that this can’t start and end during a debate. If so, Zippy can make all the promises he wants and then not deliver. That’s his M.O. Not going to change suddenly.
So if this happens, I think it needs to happen at the first debate, with a promise to produce before the second. You know he still won’t and if he produces anything it will be another forgery.
Romney needs a strategy to deal with any maneuvering that Zippy might try.
To those who say it’s a side issue and a distraction, I say that is precisely one of the (many) reasons it is a serious issue. Zippy allows it to be a distraction. One reason is that he can’t answer the charges. The other reason is that he can wave it to distract from other important issues and mock “birthers.” It’s well past time to shut that down.
Agreed. But I am also confident that Romney has war-gamed this forward and backwards with every conceivable variation factored in. I certainly would, and I know that man is as least as smart as I am — undoubtedly more so because he’s rich and I’m not.
The thing is, and this is key, I was not exaggerating when I said this is the “total war” card. Once played, he absolutely has to win, and he has to be sure of winning.
As a smoking gun, the forged birth certificate is pretty much as good as it gets. The evidence will not change, the supporting evidence will not change. If Romney rubs America’s nose in it during a national debate and demands that Obama instruct the State of Hawaii to release any and all original records to the public for proper forensic scrutiny, Obama is toast. Period.
But this is also where America is in its greatest peril. It is clear that Obama hates America. He hates what has made America special. He hates what America has accomplished and what it might accomplish. He’s also lied and been facilitated in his lies for as long as he can remember.
What will he do if all those lies are torn away? He’s still the President and he still commands the executive department. At that point, he will have absolutely nothing to lose.
That final point, or a variation of it, is one of the reasons — maybe even the biggest reason — why no major named Republican has been willing to call Obama on it yet.
Chaos would probably result — and chaos, by definition, is unpredictable.
