One Monday last October, Derrick Hunter decided to go shooting at the Maryland Small Arms Range in Upper Marlboro, his local firing range. He paid the $15 entry fee, and went inside.
And that's when the metaphorical bullets started to fly.
According to Hunter, 34, a special police officer, two women walked in behind him. Since it was "Ladies' Day," a longtime staple at the club, a manager told them they didn't have to pay.
Hunter heard the exchange, and asked if he could use the range for free too. "He said, 'It's Ladies' Day and you don't meet that criteria,'" he told ABC News. He accuses the firing range of "reverse sexism."
"Any time you get any kind of discrimination it does hit home to a certain extent," he said. "I have children. If don't stand for something you'll fall for anything. Sooner or later you have to stand up for your rights."
Hunter complained to the Human Relations Commission of Prince George's County, which reviews cases of discrimination. In August, it concluded that the case had merit. Last week, Hunter filed a $200,000 lawsuit against the firing range.

What a shameful embarrassment of a man!
Maryland “Freak State” PING!
Why would any self-respecting man want his nails done at a salon? I’m sure there are any number of metrosexual outfits that would welcome him for a mani-pedi, anyhow.
I regret that I have to disagree. These are (I hope) unintended consequences of anti-discrimination laws. The $15 entry fee clouds the issue a little. If the range charged women $100 to shoot while it charged men only $15, because on average women miss the targets more than men and that creates some additional maintenance expense (I don’t know if that is really true, but for the example it doesn’t matter), it would be obvious that charging women more would be discrimination. (Substitute race and it is more obvious, I think.)
Don’t get me wrong. I favor ladies’ nights at bars and anywhere as an attempt to get more women to frequent the establishments. But this is what you get when you pass anti-discrimination laws...
So, they actually let him in, then. I was thinking that the salon was women-only, and that’s why he pitched a fit.
Pretty much NSFW

I think we agree that it is the anti-discrimination laws that screw up the issue. I think golf clubs should be able to exclude blacks. I also believe the consequences of being so racist should be able to force them into bankruptcy as they are protested, the businesses of their members boycotted, all their members shamed into leaving the club. Any government enforcement is violating their freedom of association.
