One Monday last October, Derrick Hunter decided to go shooting at the Maryland Small Arms Range in Upper Marlboro, his local firing range. He paid the $15 entry fee, and went inside.
And that's when the metaphorical bullets started to fly.
According to Hunter, 34, a special police officer, two women walked in behind him. Since it was "Ladies' Day," a longtime staple at the club, a manager told them they didn't have to pay.
Hunter heard the exchange, and asked if he could use the range for free too. "He said, 'It's Ladies' Day and you don't meet that criteria,'" he told ABC News. He accuses the firing range of "reverse sexism."
"Any time you get any kind of discrimination it does hit home to a certain extent," he said. "I have children. If don't stand for something you'll fall for anything. Sooner or later you have to stand up for your rights."
Hunter complained to the Human Relations Commission of Prince George's County, which reviews cases of discrimination. In August, it concluded that the case had merit. Last week, Hunter filed a $200,000 lawsuit against the firing range.

Out here in California we call “special police officers,” rent-a-cops or door shakers. What we have here is another self-important member of law enforcement with too much time on his hands.
I don't, it's a private property issue and if he doesn't like the fee structure then he should go somewhere else.........
And this “special” police officer has also sued a nail salon for discrimination. Wow — that just screams SECURE MAN, doesn’t it?
See #18
I just read the article on Huff PO. This guy is one of “Holder’s People.” So what we have here is just another Black seeking “just us.” Oh, I just can’t imagine how much this issue ( and of course not getting any money from the nail salon, is damaging his psyche!
What a cheap, rat ba$tard! The whole idea of ladies nights is to expand the number of women who shoot.
This guy is the same sort of scum who tried to sue Hooters, because they wouldn’t hire a man as a “waitress,” or the booger eating morons who try to get laws passed that outlaw special drink prices for ladies at bars.
I think that the range should put up a new sign... Instead of “Ladies Night,” they should put up a sign that says “Ladies and this cheap ba$tard, Derrick Hunter shoot free.”

Title 3, Subtitle 3, of the Maryland Code: Special Police Officers
Sure, but then he'd sue the range again when they told him that from his hissy fit, he didn't qualify as a man.

“What a jackass. Looking to win the legal lottery.”
Another one of Holders sniveling ass***es, special officer my A$$. But then what can you expect from one of Obummers sons.
Let’s see, I cannot go into the Eagles club, I cannot go into the NA Sportsman’s club, I cannot go into the Run Sportsman’s club. I’ve never sued for lack of admission, boy I guess I’m missing a lot of money! This guy needs to man up and look at the big picture, there’s more women anti-gun then men and this is a good way to break the ice and turn them around. Get a grip man!
He should have asked for his $15.00 back and stomped off in a huff and gone home and kicked his dog and wife out of frustration with the way the world has treated one of Maryland “Special” police officers!
Reminds me of the one asshole atheist who complains about the Christmas Nativity Scene at the local park, has it removed and ruins it for the whole town. Schmuck.
If 0 bummer had a son....
I bet he has had no qualms accepting any affirmative action perks, though.
We probably wouldn’t have those lawyers, if there weren’t jerks like this to hire them.
There is nothing insecure about a man that visits a nail salon occasionally. Many of them do more than just nails. Besides, there is nothing un-manly about taking care of one’s hands and feet. I draw the line at polish though.
Looks like he picked the right state.
