I must admit, Godzilla commenting on earthquakes tweaks my humor center.

Those USGS maps do very little to give one the big picture.

Since you (and others on this thread) are interested in Earthquake activity, may I offer this :

It only takes seconds to download.
It’s FREE.
It’s AWESOME.
You can see PATTERNS of activity LIKE NEVER BEFORE.

EARTHQUAKE 3D.

That list is so .... USELESS. Unless you just like reading a mile long list of statistics which are about as fun as reading an Obama speech.

TRY THIS OUT. I GUARANTEE YOU WILL REALLY LIKE IT.

EARTHQUAKE 3D
http://www.wolton.net/quake.html

See earthquakes around the entire planet, all at once. Change the slider switches to control how recent a period you want, or the magnitude. Tons of other options.

AND IT’S FREE. (and the program is only 1.1 Mbyte in size, so downloading it takes about 1.1 seconds)

I have that program up most of the time..it’s awesome! For weather check out Intellicast..Best weather reporting I’ve seen. Also for Android, Earthquake Monitor is very accurate.

interesting 2.7 quake to the east of the main swarm a few minutes ago and pretty deep for the area.

read an article about 6 months or so ago. not sure if someone posted it here, but it was about the “damning” of the Colorado and how the lack of flooding in the Salton Sink was causing more quakes. interesting theory, but (imho) not valid.

I’ve been watching the live CAM at ABC since last night and it really is fascinating. Hope they leave it up. Sure you are right about more viewers than CNN and MSNBC! LOL

USGS put this up on their site sometime today (the computer is still uploading, but... they want us to look at the map instead of the list only)

“his webpage is being phased out and is no longer maintained. Please use the new Real-time Earthquake Map instead and update your bookmark. See Quick Tips & User Guide.”

Are you paying any attention to what is going on in your state?

Yes I am, thanks for asking.

In fact my attention was brought to post 47 by Lowell1775, below.

#47: Hate to say it CA Freepers, but I am praying for the big one.

And instead of being like you crying about a thread being posted, in #248 I told him to pray harder for death and destruction of other Americans. I suggested he go to church and pray more and told him maybe God will answer his prayers. Ya got to laugh at these sick comments.

Of course like all the others who've wished harm, death and destruction without a hint of sarcasm, will later claim they were just kidding when others take notice...lol

Ya see people have been very jealous and expressed hatred CA for as long as I can remember.

In fact we have relatives all over, including TX and Ohio. Even during the Reagan years many of them displayed their dislike and or hatred for CA. It's nothing new.

We're used to it. When they are walking through 3 feet of wind blown brown snow, ice, living through brutal heat and humidity, they see people here BBQing in January wearing shorts, flowers blooming in December, with nearly perfect year round Mediterranean style weather on the CA coastal plains. The weather alone is worth a fortune to us.

Ya see we fully understand CA is currently run by socialist, like much most of the U.S. now.

But many of us also understand CA, even currently run by socials, is massive economic machine, much larger than *any* other state and is clearly the crown jewel of the U.S., with topography of every imaginable description and lots to do and see.

So when people pray for death and destruction of other Americans here, we understand all the motives which come into play. It's been going on forever.

BTW, I hate to disappoint some people, but I live in So. CA and haven't felt any of this activity down near the Mexican border. In fact I've lived here my entire life, went through about half a dozen quakes and thankfully never had any damage whatsoever.

One more thing, I've never *ever* seen someone from California wish or pray for massive floods, earthquakes, tornadoes or hurricanes etc, on those living in other states.

I think that about sums it up.

Cheers!

I don't see this feature on the new page:

Latest Earthquakes Magnitude 2.5 or Greater in the United States and Adjacent Areas and Magnitude 4.5 or Greater in the Rest of the World - Last 7 days

You can select your magnitude and location but, unless I missed something, a user does not have the ability to set it up like the current page.

I like maps, but darn if I can’t set up a whole lot on their link at the top of the list page. It’s too “busy” looking for me. The plain old list is easier to eyeball. (for me)
