It would be unwise to suddenly make illegal what was legal - people have rights too.

Excuse me but bullcrap. If someone is an open homosexual in the military, that causes all kinds of problems which we've only just begun to see. DADT needs to be rolled back and to do that, we need serious patriots in elected office. At present, we have very, very few.
