It’s very embarrassing as an American to know that he died when the manned program has basically hit rock-bottom.
I look back to July 21 1969 and sometimes think I saw the apex of the USA. Terrible to contemplate that perhaps at the age of 14 I saw my nation at its zenith and we have been slowly slipping downhill since.
I will always remember those grainy B&W tv pics that hot summer eve...
Sad that he died.
Sadder still that two whole generations of Americans have came since then and NEVER SAW AN AMERICAN WALK ON THE MOON!
RIP, Mr. Armstrong
Yeah.
He was there for the glory days of discovery and actual seat of the pants flying.
And the foreign national posing as our POTUS who ended it will undoubtedly use his death to promote himself.
In a way it is too bad he lived to see the Space program is tatters. Neil WAS American Exceptionalism!
When we start believing that again, we will invest in the space program and move back into the lead on this planet...
