RAWDON, Que. - A bride-to-be has plunged to her death, tumbling down from a cliff into a waterfall while wearing her wedding dress.
The woman was being photographed Friday at Dorwin Falls in Rawdon, Que., which she had chosen as the backdrop for her wedding pictures.
During the photo shoot, around 2 p.m., she slipped on some rocks and plummeted into the water. The falls, at their highest point, are just over 18 metres high.
The immediate rescue team included firefighters and provincial police, and divers were soon on their way. The woman's body was found several hours later.
A provincial police spokesman, Ronald McInnis, said nobody could have saved her.
"It's impossible," he said. "The falls are very high. The current is very violent, it's very rocky...
"The people who fall at that spot usually perish. It doesn't give you a chance."
Two witnesses whose identity was not confirmed by police had to be transported to hospital to be treated for extreme shock.
The woman was on the verge of getting married "within days," police said. They would not confirm, however, whether the wedding was to be held Saturday.
Seriously, this reporter needs to go back to Journo school.I hate it when a wedding is held with a wet, dead bride.
Yikes, very sad indeed. But I’d never get within 20 feet of the edge of a cliff or waterfall...but that’s just me,I guess.
Perhaps the story was originally filed in French.Sometimes, what sounds fine in one language doesn't survive translation intact.
Didn’t read article. Did he comment on whether the groom gets to keep the wedding gifts already received? How about a refund of the deposit on the Reception local or at least a 50% refund since half the main attraction is still alive.
Just askin’ is all.
C’mon...this isn’t funny.
Too early to tell.
According to the reporter, the wedding may still be held today.
She then slipped and was carried away by the current".
This reeks of death by Darwin.
Jeeez...this is some confused reporting. According to your article link:
“He (the photographer) said the woman, who had been married in JUNE (my emphsis), wanted some extra photos taken for her wedding album.”
Well, I guess that settles all the questions about the wedding ceremony and returning the gifts.
How sad for all involved.
Going to make for some pretty awkward moments once the guy decides to start dating again and his date asks about past relationships.
You’d think someone would take the time to verify some info. I guess journalism is now a race for online click-counts, and time is money.
Reading comprehension.
The article merely mentioned that it was unconfirmed that the wedding had been originally scheduled for Saturday.
Before the accident.
Moron alert...
I doubt that he will be willing to take the plunge after this.
Dorwin Falls...nor Darwin, right?
Dates that ask about past relationships soon become one
I was making fun of the author of the article and not the people involved in the tragedy.
This is a very sad tragedy.
I hope more people think about this when they try to get that “perfect” picture.
Drew Peterson, are you taking notes for wife #5?
Sounds like she was not the first to perish at this location.
You would think the hosers might construct a railing or something, A?
