The Post Dispatch is the voice of the Democrat Party in St Louis.

Of course they are, and they want Akin to stay in the race. They are reporting that Independents want him out and that Independents now will vote for McCaskill. See the difference? Akin is a decent guy and a great conservative, but he can't overcome this dynamic. The fact that you can't see what's staring you straight in the face doesn't change reality.

The election is in November. Akin needs to go after McCaskill's voting record. She voted for Obamacare and does not want it repealed. In a referendum--not a poll--71% of Missouri voters wanted no part of Obamacare. Will the voters reelect McCaskill to keep Obamacare in place or choose Akin, the guy who will vote to repeal it? And then there are other real issues like the economy, the debt and deficit, unemployment, etc.

We will see with time whether Missouri voters consider a verbal gaffe, which has no effect on their personal lives and interests, is more important than the actual record of McCaskill who supports Obama's policies that are inimical to their personal interests. A month from now, reality may sink in, the current media hysteria not withstanding.
