It may be “discredited” but it is effectively true. The body doesn’t “fight it off” but unless ovulation has occurred just prior to a forcible rape, the extreme tension in the victim shuts down the process and ovulation is considerably delayed.
Pregnancy as a result of traumatic rape is much less likely than pregnancy resulting from consensual sex.

The absolute fact that everyone is failing to report in this whole debate is the number of abortions that occur due to rape. Isn’t that what the whole argument is about? whether a woman should be allowed to get an abortion if she gets pregnant after a rape? Shouldn’t we be able to determine from abortion statistics how frequently women get an abortion citing rape as the reason? Look it up. Rape accounts for.5 to1% of all abortions. Rare enough?
