I don't think the Emperor has lost academia.

The University rejected the request, IMHO, because if they had accepted it they would have to also give Mitt a venue. Since the university accepts Federal Money they are required to provide equal time for both parties.

It would be very embarrassing if the Emperor's venue pulled in a few hundred and Mitt's venue pulled in a few thousand.
