The Obama campaign is branding Mitt Romney an aspiring birther-in-chief, after the presumptive GOP nominee seemed to joke Friday about the long-debunked claim that President Obama was not born in the United States.
In a 15-second web video produced nine hours after Romney made the remark on a campaign stop in Michigan, Team Obama accused Romney of embracing unfounded conspiracy theories, distracting from real issues.
Holding out hope Romney had a vision for the middle class? Think again, the narrator said.

This is a joke. A desperate reaction. Romney made a joke. A funny, scripted joke. Obama needs to be absolutely ridiculed for this

At least Romney, if elected, wouldn’t be a foreign national in chief.

Their reaction is the joke. This is exactly the lesson in Reagan's dispatch of Mondale in 1984, debate #2. In that situation Reagan made Mondale the joke. In this situation Romney made a joking reference to something entirely about himself (and his wife). When the Obama campaign jumps in to take umbrage in this fashion, they become the joke. Romney has them doing his work for him. Amazing!

A vision of the truth would be nice but don’t expect
that from the usurper’s administration, his whole life
is a lie.

Sounds like a dumb plan to me. They must indeed be desperate, because their preferred response to something like the birth certificate question is to ignore it. But it just won’t go away.

Everyone but hard core liberals will see through this. This will only show how little substance Obama has to run on.

Touched a nerve. I must say, Mitt is surprising me. Contrast the lamentable John McCain in 08.... “We have nothing to fear from an Obama presidency.”

"Real issues"?Like, should your dog ride on the roof of the car, versus should you eat your dog?
This sounds like Romney struck a nerve. Good.

Actually, we don’t need a tin-horn, fiat-imperialist, narcissist despot like Obama in the White House. He should be jailed for treason to this country.

Now, nowhere did Romney mention Obama’s name - wonder why he thought it was about him???
To: kristinn
Actually, when Romney said everyone knows "this is the place" where he was born, he pointing down towards the ground, with a gesture which clearly indicated he meant "the planet earth."
Do we really want to elect someone who is believes are current president is an alien from outer space!

Both the Obama and Romney camps (eg Dims and Gop) have concluded this is a base election, get out the true believers in the parties from both sides and gamble you win.
Neither political party can appeal to folks who vote their convictions..

I tend to think as long as Obama is complaining about abortion/tax returns/birther jokes/etc, its good for Romney.
To: kristinn
Oh, they are getting desperate.
