Pinellas sheriffs Deputy Ed Diluzio asks CodePink and St. Pete for Peace protesters to move off private property in Largo.
ARGO Seventy-five protesters, many dressed in pink, gathered outside the local production plant of Raytheon on Thursday, denouncing the defense contractor for its role in drone warfare.
The demonstration, organized by the groups CodePink and St. Pete for Peace, marked the unofficial start of protests surrounding the Republican National Convention, set to kick off Monday in Tampa.
"Raytheon, shame on you," they chanted. "Children die because of you."
The director of the Young-Rainey Star Center was not happy to see a collection of elaborately costumed demonstrators a Grim Reaper and a carrot-shaped helicopter among them congregating in his parking lot.
"The right of way is over there," Paul Sacco said. The property is owned by the Pinellas County Industrial Development Authority.
"I'm very confused," said Tighe Barry, dressed in pink and a straw hat with a Hello Kitty ribbon. "It seems to me this is county land. I have a First Amendment right to be here."
And so it went. Sacco yelled, "Everybody, let's go! Let's go!" But nobody did, until a Pinellas sheriff's deputy arrived. He persuaded the group to move to the sidewalk, then drove away, leaving the protesters free to march up and down the median for an hour and a half.
One woman in a white van shouted: "Go to Tampa!" and made an obscene gesture......

But Hamil declined to criticize groups that might not follow organizers' plans for a peaceful march with a permit from the city.
"I'm not here to say that anything is a problem," he said. That's because the coalition has adopted a brief set of guidelines, "The Tampa Bay Principles," that emphasize respect "for the diversity of tactics" and a commitment to keeping criticisms of other activists internal to the movement.
They accept “men” into Code Pink now?
The ban will be enforced 24 hours a day around the three main bridges across Tampa Bay the Gandy, Howard Frankland and Courtney Campbell from noon Saturday to 1 a.m. Aug. 31.
The ban will be enforced at another dozen bridges in Pinellas County at times when delegate buses are likely to cross them on their way to the Tampa Bay Times Forum.
"Current analysis indicates that some activist groups are planning maritime activities to make their political views known," the Coast Guard said in the rule, which was published Thursday in the Federal Register. "The geography of the Tampa Bay region makes these 15 bridges a vital component of the regional transportation network."
Boats can pass through the security zones but must be "expeditious," the temporary rule says.
In a second temporary rule also published Thursday, the Coast Guard said it is establishing moving security zones around cargo ships carrying anhydrous ammonia, liquified propane gas and ammonium nitrate to and from the Port of Tampa. No other boats will be allowed within 500 yards of those cargo vessels from Saturday through Aug. 31.
Word of the bans comes as two television news networks were reporting that the FBI and Department of Homeland Security on Wednesday issued a joint warning about potential attacks by anarchist extremists and possible plans to tie up the bay area's bridges during the RNC."............
“CODEPINK is a women-initiated grassroots peace and social justice movement working to end U.S. funded wars and occupations, to challenge militarism globally, and to redirect our resources into health care, education, green jobs and other life-affirming activities. The name CODEPINK satirized the Bush Administration’s color-coded, fear-mongering “security” alert system that has since been phased out. CODEPINK is a lively call for the people of the world to “wage peace.” More..... http://www.codepink4peace.org/
.....Why women?
CODEPINK is not exclusively women we invite men to join us -but we are particularly eager to see mothers, grandmothers, sisters, and daughters, female workers, students, teachers, healers, artists, writers, singers, poets and all outraged woman rise up and oppose the global militarism..............”

Hold on!—They’re protesting Raytheon at the Republican National Convention because Raytheon makes drones? But it’s a democrat who is sitting at the video console, dropping the drones onto targets he chooses. That’s like blaming Remington and Colt because Jesse James was robbing banks using guns. Oh wait, the left does that, too.
The photographic evidence is inconclusive.
IMO Early arrests with delay of first court appearance would help local official handle the protestors.
Agreed.
” to redirect our resources into health care,”
Would their health care include the murder of the unborn up to the day of birth?
Hmmm.
They are the children of those who spit on our Vietnam Vets when they came home from war and called them “baby killers” and then protested for the right to murder the unborn? Just wondering.
“all outraged woman rise up and oppose the global militarism..............
Not a pretty picture.
Does anyone really expect logic out of Code Pink?
Obama orders the use of drones they should be at the DNC convention, but Obama is their Messiah so they come here and protest Republicans.Somehow that makes sense to thes frustrated pinko’s
Heck under normal circumstances they use plenty of people with guns to protect areas of Tampa Bay. Take a wrong turn while fishing and you’ll get surprised.
Most people I know are just avoiding that whole area of town.

Yep. Same mentality that blames firearms and wants gun control. Blame the inanimate objects, not the people using them. Not far off from the reality-free thinking that blames a fast food place for their own clumsiness with hot coffee, or a football team for their own stupidity in choice of seats, or soda pop for fat kids. It all comes back to that liberal mindset of no personal accountability. They want a consequence-free life to do whatever idiotic thing springs into their little heads.
AND.....the nut jobs who demand abortion at any time for any reason are against killing children with drones????
I just shake my head. It is so hard for me as a logical thinker to follow all this some times.
Psst: RAYPAC is supporting Scott Brown, and is pretty much all in for Republicans this year, which is a change from previous years when they played both sides of the street.
AND they are at the RNC not the DNC, Obama has killed more people with drones than any Republicans have. He is the drone assassin.
I knew it. Zero uses drones, no protest coverage. A Republican using drones; the examination of who we are and our values begin.
