Bucking protocol, President Obama and the Democrats are planning a full-scale assault on Republicans next week during their convention.
Presidential candidates have traditionally kept a low profile during their opponent's nominating celebration, but Democrats are throwing those rules out the window in an attempt to spoil Mitt Romneys coronation as the GOP nominee.
President Obama, Vice President Biden and leading congressional Democrats have all scheduled high-profile events next week to counter-program the Republican gathering in Tampa, Fla.
Even first lady Michelle Obama is in on the act, scheduling an appearance on the David Letterman Show smack in the middle of Romney's nominating bash.
Political historians say the high stakes of this year's elections combined with the rise of todays 24/7 media culture have forced leaders on both sides of the aisle to get more aggressive.

More get-along-to-go-along, above-the-fray, country-club GOP horsecrap.
There's a word for someone that stands and takes an a$$beating. That word is idiot. Or, GOP, whichever.

I was surprised when I read that this “hurricane” is packing winds of (gasp!) 40 to 45 miles an hour. That may change as it moves and picks up warm Gulf moisture, but yeah ... a nice heavy rain blown cross ways by what we up north would call a good stiff autumn blow might dampen anarchist spirits (it would be amusing to see their tent towns blown away) while leaving those on the convention floor completely unaffected.
You obviously over-estimate the integrity and intelligence of the majority of American voters... After all - they elected OBozo in 2008, despite clear and convincing evidence (to least to anyone with an IQ higher than a head of Cauliflower) that Obama was the worst possible choice for the job.
“What are they thinking?????? “
They are using every possible tool and method to disrupt the RNC. They intend to win this election and are willing to fight on every front.
“Presidential candidates have traditionally kept a low profile during their opponent’s nominating celebration”
Riiiiight...I guess we are to forget Bambi’s big BOR interview the same night McCain accepted the nomination.
I do not recall who, but someone in the Obama Campaign organization stated that the Democrats have to do this because they ‘know’ that the Republicans will do this to them at their Charlotte DNC Convention. Psychiatrists call this projection and I call it self-fulfilling.
What a crock of bovine byproduct!
Hey ACH, I hope you are prepared for the “that toast is RACIST!!” posts.. : )
It certainly smells of desperation. I can see this backfiring for Obama but it's hard to imagine a remotely media savvy GOP.
CBS is\e already planning to skip Ann Romney for a repeat of Hawaii 5-O after having shown Michelle Obama's speech in 2008.
I don't know if other networks are following their lead.
WOW, when Michelle and Letterman are your ace cards, you be in trouble!
Yet another example of that new tone of civility Obango’s brought to the nation. Bunch of gutter dwelling trash
Problem is, /johnny, most of the Dems’ tactics are third-grade level at best. Imitating them just makes one seem like an envious second grader.
You wouldn’t SERIOUSLY want a GOP Cindy Sheehan.
It’s now official. There can no longer be any debate. Liberals have become the biggest group of a-holes in the history of the nation.
I love it when the MSM, in any story which might reflect poorly on the Democrats, qualifies it by saying “both sides are engaging in . . . “
How do you fight people who have no scruples and no morals, lie and don’t care if they’re seen to be lying, flout the law and the Constitution and don’t care if they’re seen doing it as long as they can get away with it, use the race card as a shield, dare anyone to hold them accountable, smirk as the lies come from their lips and even think more of themselves for being able to lie to your face even though you and they both know they’re lying? How do you fight people who have no conscience and no shame?
L.O.L.!
