There are a lot of Catholics who don’t back Obama, too, even though some with loud voices in the church say otherwise.
Thanks for the new yiddish word! At least, it’s new to me.
Brech...I’ll remember it. ;o)
It makes me sad to see how quickly many Jews seem to have forgotten that socialism and gas chambers go hand in hand.
Rabbis support nationalist socialist Muslim communist, the first Kenyan president.
Judaism and Israel must be out of favor among Rabbis, because the obamunists do not support them either.
Not just socialism and not just gas chambers.
The relationship between concentrated state power and killing and oppressing Jews is one that goes back over 2000 years and transcends continents, religions, forms of government, and cultures.
If I were a Jew, I would be a Milton Friedman Jew.
The less government the better, not just for economic reasons, but to remain politically free and physically alive.
IDIOTS! LIBERALS FIRST, JEWS SECOND!!
Yep. I remember that meeting (and posting an article). Obama was met with virtual silence. I doubt you'll see him do that again. :)
The three or four orthodox Rabbis that signed on to this are probably not associated with with any true orthodox movement or were influenced by others to do it somehow. There are also a few knee jerk Democrat orthodox too. Actually know a couple. One worked for Moynahan. Democrat-ism is his second religion.
The medias perception of religious denominations is very odd.
Like you said, the Dems look at the voting demographics. Then massage their message to the respective voters and worked with the sycophant media operatives. That is why nobody went after the Catholics in Iowa IMHO.
That’s 600 people too stupid to live. They are backing someone that hates them and their nation of Israel.
My reply was a description of the sorry state of American Jewry's level of knowledge, let alone observance. It was a lament, a personal Eichah. It was not a condemnation. You cannot condemn non-observance of mitzvos you don't even know exist. They are the Tinok Shenishbah, raised in ignorance by the ignorant. In some cases, they are people who know better but who went off the derech, lusting after false gods of material attainment, popularity, shaking off the yoke of authority in general.
You are absolutely correct in that we must be good teachers to the secular Jews. One way to do this is to lead by example. Another way is to lovingly inform while not condemning.
It's a funny thing, but I have often received compliments from non-Jewish colleagues about how I stick to my principles no matter what political or personal flack it brings me. They really admire me. I have never received any such compliment from a non-observant Jew. They instead cringe about me "making waves". Hard to believe we come from the same people.
I disown these hack rabbis ... I am Jewish
When I first read it as “600 Rabbits for Obama” I thought the article was about registering to vote.
600 doesn’t seem like many when you look at the US having approximately 4300 rabbis.
#21: I think there are 2 reasons. First, after Hitler, they want a very strong government that will ensure Jews are protected (kinda upside-down thinking—the bigger the government, the harder to persecute one group of people). Second, many of the Jews who came to the US originated in Eastern bloc nations where socialism prevailed. I believe it’s in their blood to be socialists. For whatever my opinion is worth.
#37: I personally know the first one on the list (from Arkansas) and he is Reformed—VERY liberal, as is his extended family whom I know better.
1) I think it is nuts that Jews would want a strong government to protect them when every strong government since the beginning of time has persecuted Jews.
2) Those Eastern European countries that were socialist were anti-Semitic. I am not going to go through the list of Warsaw Pact countries, but they all had records of official state sponsored Antisemitism.
I agree that it doesn’t make sense, but they for some reason believe stronger government means less persecution by individuals. I think they believe Hitler was an aberration, except the ones who actually when through the Holocaust.
That one doesn't make really sense, when you consider that all the Christian immigrants that come from the former Soviet bloc countries in eastern europe have the opposite reaction and staunchly defense the free market system. I don't meet any polish Catholics who talk about how great things were back when the country was under communism. Ditto with Lithuinaians, Slovaks, Croatians, etc., etc. A few of them are Democrats but most of the immigrants have an aversion to socialism.
I know. I’ll try to find my source on #2. I can’t explain it.
