Rep Steve King (R-Iowa) jumped into the "legitimate rape" fray Tuesday by telling a local reporter that he doesn't personally know of any victims of statutory rape or incest who became pregnant from the attacks.
The reporter asked King about a bill he put forward last year that would have barred federal Medicaid funds from going towards abortions except when the life of the mother is in danger or in the case of "forcible rape." (The current law just makes an exception for "rape," without the forcible part.) The new terminology would most likely prevent people who become pregnant from incest or statutory rape--when an adult has sex with someone under the age of consent--from accessing Medicaid-funded abortions. King told the reporter he didn't know of anyone who had become pregnant under those circumstances.
"Well I just haven't heard of that being a circumstance that's been brought to me in any personal way, and I'd be open to discussion about that subject matter," he said. (Talking Points Memo points to a 1996 Guttmacher Institute study that found that half of all pregnancies among minors were fathered by adult men.)

Ahhh, if only life was that simple.
Yesterday Rush told Republicans to refuse to answer any questions of rape/abortion that the media may ask them. Just refuse.
Well, just as I predicted Huckbee and some others are alarmed that Republicans are no longer defending that party position that they think is the most important to them: abortion under any circumstances. But that moron from MO blew that up as I been posting on another thread, he set the anti-abortion agenda back 10 years. Republicans had the advantage on that for years now.
What if Rush told Republicans to refuse to answer any questions on being apposed to Federal gun registration after a Republican made a comment that no one gets killed by guns who doesn't deserve it? And the nominee had passed strict gun control laws in his past but changed recently to run for POTUS?? You would be worried.
OK, now that is going a bit too far. I know he has made a few mistakes but he means well. He is just getting some bad advise just like that other guy was, what's his name again? I forget. Maybe he will get better in his second term. He is learning.
Lets all pray for him.
:) Are you OK? I didn't mean to make you swallow your tongue.
How about that ‘I Love Lucy was real’ character on the other thread calling me a liberal because I like a TV show that he doesn't? Is he too much or what?
“...Ahhh, if only life was that simple....”
Yes, but you’d think, by now, that “our” side would be intelligent enough to realize:
A: The media is the enemy, and in the pocket of the enemy.
B: ANY question they ask is going to be a gotcha question.
C: ANY answer you give is going to be used in such fashion as to make you look like a fool.
D: ANY question they ask is specifically designed to put the Republican in as bad a light as possible.
What this guy said was stupid; but no more so or no more outrageous than anything idiots like Hank Johnson, Maxine Waters, Sheila Jackson Lee, Charlie Wrangle, etc., has said and gotten away with thanks to their kneepad-wearing friends in the media.
Even if the MSM was unbiased the interviews that get viewed the most are successful-got-ya questions so them whining about it doesnt fix anything.
The MSM was dogging Pelosi for a while 2009-2011 and she ran away to China to get away from their questions one day. I warned you folks that those would seem like the GOOd days.
Republicans had Dems in a corner on partial birth abortion, their weak point, for years. But now they fell into Dems similar laid trap, it goes :
“How can you force a teen raped by her dad to carry out the pregnancy and give birth to his child? Have you no feelings? Do you hate women that much??”
It's the got-ya trap. If you believe in something then be prepared to defend it without nuking your own cause.
Or
“How can you force a Christian who believes in human life at conception to pay taxes to have someones(strangers) nearly fully developed unborn baby ripped to shreds while alive??Do you hate children that much??”
Ya see?? Got-ya.
I hear ya, brother...it’s what we have to live with either way...

Too difficult to grasp for the Stupid Party.
Most american veterans will be on our side. There are many millions of them not currently in active duty.
Fair enough : )
” It would be nightmarish, it would be bloody, it would be ugly with a capital ‘UGH’, but at this point our Revolutionary ancestors would already be at war, based upon the violations of our freedoms by a vile tyranny fast becoming the American equivalent of an old Soviet-style regime. “
Very likely scenario.
