The Rush Limbaugh LIVE Radio Show Thread - Tuesday, August 21,2012

AND NOW . . . amidst billowing clouds of fragrant, aromatic first- and second-hand premium cigar smoke. . . it is time for . . . that harmless, lovable little fuzz ball, the highly-trained broadcast specialist, having more fun than a human being should be allowed to have, from behind the golden EIB microphone, firmly ensconced in the prestigious Attila-the-Hun chair at the Limbaugh Institute of Advanced Conservative Studies, serving humanity simply by showing up, and he’s not retiring until every American agrees with him, do NOT doubt him, with shrieks of joy at the mere mention of his name (that’s Rush, for those in Rio Linda),the Mandarin of Talk Radio, with talent on loan from G-d, at the cutting-edge of societal evolution, with half his brain tied behind his back — just to make it fair, the all-knowing, all-caring, all-sensing, all-feeling, all-concerned Maha-Rushie! America’s anchorman, truth detector, and doctor of democracy. A Real Man, a living legend, a way of life. Commander in Chief of U.S. Operation Chaos. Chief Waga-Waga El Rushbo of the El Conservo Tribe. Chief of the Patriotism Police. Leader of the Conservative Movement. A Weapon of Mass Instruction. El Rushbo (a little Spanish lingo, there). He is the man who is running America (you know it and I know it). He knows the Democrats like every square inch of his glorious naked body. He is ready to do what he was born to do—that’s host. Get ready to what you were born to do—that’s listen (and post your comments on the Rush Limbaugh LIVE Radio Thread).

I know. I just don’t know how much ground you gain when you cave, either. Personally, I think this whole situation is lose/lose.

Yes, sadly I agree...

Also - how much time, energy, effort, and money has been wasted on this fool? Akin gave the dims a gift and they’ve ran with it. Not just in his race; but all Monday long we’re talking about this, instead of how craptastic our economy is.

I know the voters are ready, but those that go on talk shows need to be. We don't want a split party with evangelicals fighting GOPe.

I agree with your second statement. In your first sentence above, if you meant that candidates like Akin should have been better prepared before he went on that talk show, yes I also agree.

It is possible he stays in today, does some polling, then later gets the court order. Could the MO GOP vote him out or is it all up to Akin?

Excellent points! Probably why Rush just compared Akin to Biden. (Rush, a few minutes ago: "We don't need a Joe Biden on our side.")

Akin should have been prepared, but also when we have folks on TV in the future they need to be prepared to answer questions about Akin, to take the topic OFF Akin. (if he stays in)

I think he has to drop out. I just don’t like setting the precedent that the media can dictate who our candidate is, even after a primary. The media totally hype up stories while hiding others and create this stupid foaming mouth fervor. I mean, for Pete’s sake, I was ignoring anything Michelle Malkin posted because she had a huge argument over why her “estimated” numbers were more valid on rape than the police kept records. I get that rape isn’t always reported, but rapes that don’t happen also get reported. How do you factor that into “estimated” numbers?

Sometimes I’m depressed thinking about how we are all mere pawns of the media. Worse than that - we are the media’s version of Pavlov’s dogs.

Right. Romney/Ryan need to get back on message immediately and all other candidates need to follow suit.

If the Dim Party candidate in Tennessee is any indication, it is up to Akin. The state Party sued to remove a candidate and lost. They have to do their vetting before the candidate is allowed on the ballot for the primary.

12 years in US Congress and he says something that stupid, he is our Biden, and just wait until he goes on all the cable and network TV shows for publicity to boost his campaign, face palms.

The media still has tremendous power in that it can choose to either ignore or magnify an issue in order to drive an agenda. And isn’t it remarkable how unified the MSM is when it involves trying to take down a Republican?

and I don't like how we jumped on him in public first. Someone should have known his ego and at least attempted to handle it internally. If he stays in none of those that released statements can now say well, he is better than Claire.

its something stoopid about a hotbutton issue - and it was also FALSE

the question is - was it stoopid enough

‘naked babies arouse me’ is something stoopid too - people are disagreeing about if his statement rises to the point where he should step aside

Akin should have been prepared, but also when we have folks on TV in the future they need to be prepared to answer questions about Akin, to take the topic OFF Akin. (if he stays in)

The problem with Akin boils down to this: He said something stupid -- and said it stupidly -- yes. But he also single-handedly reversed the momentum of the national race.

Prior to Akin, all the conversation concerned how poorly Obama and the Democrats were doing -- in the polls, fundraising, etc. -- and just how badly they might be beaten.

Post-Akin, the conversation is all about him! -- and all the damage he could do to the Republican brand...and how he risks not only the Senate seat, but the Senate, the state and, maybe, even the Presidency. And, of course, how the GOP is anti-woman.

Akin could single-handedly do more damage to America -- not to mention the Pro-Life movement -- than even President Obama has done so far. It's not about abortion -- it's about political stupidity.

Ok, I was probably asleep by then-my station plays it from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m.-so I apparently missed that part. But I agree-he was trying to be even-handed about the whole thing.
