COLUMBUS, Ohio - The Ohio State Highway Patrol and the Delaware County Sheriff's office are working on a joint investigation after a man was struck by a car and killed after he was dropped off at Taco Bell.
Investigators have put a state trooper on desk duty and two deputies on paid leave while they look into what happened on July 28.
Just after 9 p.m, six 911 calls were made indicating that Uriel Juarez Popoca, 22, was driving erratically along I-71 in Delaware County.
Two Delaware County deputies found him sitting in his vehicle in the median and when the trooper arrived, Juarez Popoca was placed in handcuffs.
Deputies did not take him to jail, but instead, drove him to the Taco Bell at I-71 and state Route 36/37. They allegedly told him to call someone for a ride home.

If he had been driving a bass boat while drunk, they would have dropped him off at Long John Silver’s.

Does that answer the question? I bet they didn’t want to be bothered contacting Homeland Security since it’s their policy to just release even if the perp assaults another officer. So they figured what the heck, lets just release the guy and be done with it.

If the cops were required to contact immigration at DHS for processing, this man could be alive today. The two daughters would still have a father.

Somebody was paying this guy money to work here illegally. That somebody would be an illegal employer. That illegal employer chances are is a LEGAL AMERICAN CITIZEN.
That illegal employer probably BROKE more laws particularly with the Federal Gubmint than this poor sucker who got run over.
Barry is problem. But the problem existed long before Barry took office.
If the Gubmint would start prosecuting and sending illegal employers to jail, that would seem a both a logical and efficient way to attack the problem.
The Republican Party elite is OWNED by the Chamber of Commerce and illegal employers are not going to jail.
The Democratic Party elite is owned by La Raza and they look as illegals as future Democrat voters if given amnesty.

This is going to come back and bite the Patrol in the butt...and they deserve it. You just know his family is going to sue for big pesos...and we taxpayers are going to foot the bill...as usual.
Sounds like they didn’t want to do the paperwork and it bit them on the butt. I feel sorry for them because the trouble they will get into is disproportional to the petty negligence on their part.
Sadly the man’s body could not be recovered, though drag marks were found from the scene of the accident terminating in the Taco Bell kitchen.
