WDSU-TV reported this afternoon that former Mayor Ray Nagin has been ordered to appear before a federal grand jury on Friday. The source of the station's information is unclear; the report simply says that "the WDSU I-Team has learned" of the scheduled appearance. The station says that the subpoena went out last week.
The report says that Robert Jenkins, Nagin's attorney, "declined to confirm the information." Jenkins frequently appears as an analyst on WDSU. He did not immediately return a phone call from The Times-Picayune.
It's been well-publicized that the feds have been building a case against Nagin. The Times-Picayune reported in February that he was the subject of a federal probe, and in June, former city contractor Frank Fradella pleaded guilty to giving "Public Official A" -- who is known to be Nagin -- $50,000 and showering him with free granite for his family's countertop installation business.

“Sounds like Nagin has Zero/Holder bus tire tread marks on him.”
Nagin is a born patsy. That is not to say he does not deserve investigation, but a big part of this is to end any deeper scrutiny of other officials’ malfeasance. Nagin never really fit in, and he was a relative moderate before he lost his mind due to PTSD. He is the designated fall guy for New Orleans specifically and Louisiana in general.
The buses were witheld because the left needed to slam Pres. Bush by enabling as much misery as possible. Anything for political gain in lefty world.
Nagin has BLOOD on his hands. The blood of the people in the 9th ward that should have been moved out by those school busses.
I loved the excuse that Nagin gave for not using the busses:
1. “Those busses were not ready to be used”......
answer: Those busses were VERY ready to be used because school was to start the very next day (Monday) and they were gassed up & fresh batteries were installed, etc. All bus drivers had been hired & trained.
2. “There is no air conditioning on those busses. It would be wrong to ask people to ride on them without air conditioning.”
answer: There never has been ‘air conditioning’ on school busses.
IF those school busses are good enough to transport your kids and grandkids each & every year for 9 + months, they are certainly good enough to take people out of the path of the flooding disaster in a few hours.
If STUPID was an Olympic sport, New Orleans mayors & prior Louisiana Governors would hold most of the Gold Medals!!!!
I hope Nagin gets serious prison time.
That STUPID woman that was ogovernor reminds me of Clair McCaskill.....DUMB as a BAG of ROCKS.
