IMHO, the italicized part is the important one (I added italics). Akin is done, out, finito. The "prayer vigil" thing is a way for him to say, "I prayed and reflected and came to this decision on my own yada yada" so no one wil say that he was forced out. Again, just MHO.

I hope you are right. He has supporters who need to be guided to a soft landing. This is a good way to do it.
The statement he made was technically correct, but an incredibly stupid choice of words. He won't recover from it this election cycle and needs to get it off the front pages.

The time to pray, was before shooting his mouth off in the manner he did. Too late now...
Thanks for the donations. Lets finish this off. If you haven't already, please click and pencil yourself in.

I think you're right, and the prayer part is fine with me so long as tomorrow morning he comes out and says "the result of the prayer vigil is revelation from God that I'm not qualified to run for the Senate. I'm out. Thanks to everyone for everything."
And then he turns around and walks away from the cameras.

I hope you're right! I'm holding a prayer vigil tonight, too.... that the Republican party hasn't again snatched defeat from the jaws of victory!

Orrr, there's the chance he's
really praying about this. Not everyone is so "political." If it was Huckabee, Santorum, or Jindal, I'd say they were truly praying. I don't know if Akin is in their same league, faith-wise, but I know for sure (based on his history) Romney is not. :)

Akin’s Big Money Donors, the NRSC, and CrossRoads, are singing and old Eagles song. “I’m already gone....”
He’s done.

And here’s the prayer he needs to say:
God grant me the serenity
to accept the things I cannot change;
courage to change the things I can;
and wisdom to know the difference.

Him coming out and saying “The Lord wants me to stay in the race” will make this situation about 1000% worse than it is now. The libs will run with this 24/7 all the way to November.

Just go away Akin.
If you want to pray, pray.
There is no need to make the church a campaign backdrop.

The Republicans Crossroads PAC just announced that they have withdrawn 5 million in proposed spending from the Akin campaign thus making Claire McCaskill’s campaign the biggest single entity in spending funds to support his candidacy in the primary.McCaskill can kiss that 2 million goodby in her attempts to position a dummy candidate against her.
