What he meant was that fewer than one-tenth of one percent of abortions are the result of rape, but that’s not what he said.

This is exactly why Claire McCaskill ran “anti-Akin” ads in the Republican primary dog-whistling Democrats to cross over and vote for him.

Unfortunately for Claire he blew up sooner and more thoroughly than she had planned.

Akin will be gone and Brunner will be in his place by next weekend.

If I was the new GOP candidate, I would put thison Mcaskill and state if she would not have spent the $2 million on trying to elect Akin, we wouldn’t have had this mess.

There is no evidence that Akin won because of Dem crossover votes. I know I voted for Akin because he has been a fairly reliable conservative congressman, and I was not thrilled about either Brunner’s or Steelman’s campaign. But if Akin withdraws—for Brunner, Steelman, Bond, Talent, or whomever—I will gladly support the new nominee over ObamaClaire McCaskill.
