What’s morally correct about being generally and politically idiotic—and offensive while he’s at it?

Bond is 73. Practicing law in StL. He stepped down in 2010. Doubt if he has any interest.

On another note, I searched the SOS of MO website and just couldn't find out the procedure for replacing an elected Primary candidate. Maybe and attorney from MO could jump in here?

If he had come out opposing abortion in all cases and with a thought out stance, I would have donated to his campaign. Instead, all he did was provide ammunition to destroy him (and likely others). The idea that the stress of rape shuts down the pregnancy, while it does have some truth to it, should be anathema for a politician. It leaves them open to the argument that they are saying, “If there is conception, she must have secretly wanted it”.

Look, I knew exactly what he meant... REAL cases of rape, not bogus rape claims that NOW and NARAL et al want to trumpet as excuses for taxpayer-paid abortion-on-demand.

Politicians say stupid things all the time... we want a smooth talker we get Slick Willie and BHO... Missouri Right to Life and the Susan B. Anthony group have come out in support... they care more about substance than all this fake outrage and indignation strutting about like real concern for women.

Everyone should calm down. Quit acting squirrelly everytime the Left gets offended..

Just throwing it out there but... Isn't Akin the person that Mrs Palin didn't pick? Translation: Sarah does it again!

Yep. Basically the Tea Party vote split between Brunner (FreedomWks) and Steelman (TP Express/Palin), allowing the Huckabee-backed weirdo to sneak in with 36%.

Will Akin put his ego over the good of the country?

I guess we live in different worlds. In the world I live in, a left-leaning cabal of influential media voices runs interference for the Democrats while working overtime to destroy Republican candidates. A "gaffe" by a Democrat will be quickly minimized and forgotten, while a "gaffe" by a Republican will lead every news show from now until the election.

Also, in the world that I live in the majority of voters are fickle and tend to vote based on their impression of a candidate rather than on a set of core values and principles. By November their impression of Akins will be very, very firmly ingrained.

It's an ignorant, unfair world that I live in, but it is what it is.

Steelman finished third in the primary. John Brunner was the runner-up to Akin. If Akin steps aside--and I'm not saying he should--but if he does, it would seem Brunner is next in line.

Who's to say that those who voted for Akin might not change their votes to Steelman, if Akin needs to be replaced?

If there is a replacement, I’m thinking now it won’t be either Brunner or Steelman. I’m thinking Ann Wagner or Kit Bond.

I don't think Bond is interested in the job. Politico reported that 2 of his former staffers gave big $ to McCaskill's campaign. One (Van Eaton) was Akin's campaign mgr. back in 2K. Go figure...

Anyway, I'm not dusting off my STEELMAN signs. Just yet...
