I just hope it will eventually mean a glut of .45 ammo on the market. I was starting to worry that the GI stores had dried up.

Uh, should this be semi auto?

Navy and U.S. Marines who carried an earlier version of the Colt as their official sidearm — the Model 1911 .45-caliber automatic.

Never go into a handgun fight with a bullet that does not start with a 4

There have already been reported failures of the frame.
The one that I saw had the rail assembly split from the dust cover. Look where the rail joins the frame and it’s a sharp/squared angle that directs the stresses.

Such things are common when new weapons are developed, so they should be able to work it out.

THANK GOD!

I first qualified with the .45 and then they switched to the POS 9MM!

It is only proper to give Marines a REAL weapon which is designed to KILL the person you are shooting at, not merely wound him!!

Question...

This pistol appears to have a hammer.

Wouldn’t that significantly slow the rate of fire?

How much does a new one cost? Used?

I love the old 1911 but this is crazy. Unless they added a glock style breech block, and a hi-power style linkless barrel, and a trigger with a second strike capability, and a polymer grip frame, then they are nuts.

The only issue with .45’s is that many women and a few men do not have the hand strength / length of finger to properly control a 1911 in .45 ACP. Since there is a need to standardize ammunition, the only way you can compensate is to either:

1) go back to issuing .38s to females
2) order the .45 as a compensated model

Qualified expert back in ‘83 with a 1911 that was so warn it barely stayed together. You could shake the pistol and have the slide rattle.

What I want to know is why the standard sidearm for the U.S.Navy SEALS is a Sig Sauer un-manly 9mm?
