JANESVILLE, Wisc. In 2009, as Rep. Paul D. Ryan was railing against President Obamas $787 billion stimulus package as a wasteful spending spree, he wrote at least four letters to Obamas secretary of energy asking that millions of dollars from the program be granted to a pair of Wisconsin conservation groups, according to documents obtained by the Globe.
The advocacy appeared to pay off; both groups were awarded the economic recovery funds -- one receiving a $20 million grant to help thousands of local businesses and homes improve their energy efficiency, agency documents show.
Ryans letters to the energy secretary praising the energy initiatives as he sought a portion of the funding are in sharp contrast to the House Budget Committee chairmans image as a Tea Party favorite adamantly opposed to federal spending on such programs.
Ryans views are garnering new attention since his selection Saturday as Mitt Romneys running mate.
The documents show that Ryans attempts to take advantage of the stimulus funds even after he voted against them was more expansive than previously reported. Ryan was criticized by some House Democrats in 2010 after the Wall Street Journal reported that he was among several Republicans lawmakers who sought the stimulus money for their constituents by, in his case, writing a letter in 2010 to the Department of Labor.
The additional letters include his praise for the energy programs aims, and clash with his own budget priorities, which call for curtailing many of the same Department of Energy investments that are designed to spur growth of green technologies and reduce reliance on fossil fuels..
I was pleased that the primary objectives of their project will allow residents and businesses in the partner cities to reduce their energy costs, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and stimulate the local economy

So glad Boston Globe is investigating something. Too bad they have done zip on Obama and his records of any kind, Fast and Furious, the Intelligence Leaks, etc.
and we still dont know if its true our not and must do our own research because the press is not reliable.
Yep, can’t argue with your reasoning. It sounds like the money went for a good cause, so as long as the goodies are being distributed - get them for your district.
Obama Campaign?
If Ryan did that, he’s a weasel. Other real leaders - State Governors - took the left’s heat in their decision to reject the “free Obamamoney” for the strings attached.
I’m still voting for the Romney/Ryan Ticket
Tell that to Ron Paul. He was the king of doing just that.
Act holier than thou?
But, on the other hand, you have a point. He gave the Gov. an opportunity to chose whether to wreck his state with the socialist strings attached, or not.
Personally, I would have been “holier than thou” and rejected the destructive funds. That’s why I’m not a politican. :)
That’s okay by me! Do your thing. :)
I totally believe that the morons who write this crap have absolutely no clue that one is 39,350 times the amount that triggered this silly rant. Or even how much a Billion IS.
I am singularly unimpressed by this ignorant grammar school rant.
But then, that's the age level the Obama constituency can be outraged by.
Stephen Ellis, vice president of Taxpayers for Common Sense, said Ryan was not a heavy practitioner of earmarks compared to his Capitol Hill colleagues. But he participated in the process along with other members of Congress, who traditionally win favor back home by providing funds for projects in their districts.
Here is Barone’s opinion which I like a whole lot better. : )
The legislative branch is made up of know-nothings and do-nothings.
Congressmen that serve in the House are know-things and do-nothings such as Nancy Pelosi, Barney Frank, Ron Paul and tbe Wonderboy Paul Ryan. The difference between members of the House and
Senators is logarithmic. Senatorial Clowns like Barry, Hillary, Joe Biden, Mitch McConnell and Orrin Hatch know and do exponentially less than members of the House like the Wonderboy Paul Ryan.
The legislative branch is NO PLACE to look for the leadership ability required by the Presidency.
The two greatest leaders to occupy the White House in my life time were Dwight Eisenhower and Ronald Reagan and they never lowered themselves to running for or holding office in the legislative branch with that know-nothing, do-nothing crowd in the legislative branch, not one of whom had an ounce of leadership ability in their entire body.
