NBC insiders tell me The Tonight Show went through ”downsizing” today and that 20 staffers lost their jobs. Others tell me the number is more like 25, and producers were forced to take pay cuts or lose their jobs.
The downsizing also comes just 5 days after First Lady Michelle Obama appeared as a guest for the third time on The Tonight Show: high unemployment, job creation, and taxing the rich vs the poor all are issues in the 2012 president campaign.
Leno has said publicly that he’s able to bank his entire Tonight Show salary and live on the hefty fees he makes from his hectic personal appearance schedule.
Leno’s new salary is reportedly $27M-$30 million a year. He reportedly brings home another $15M-$20M a year from his other gigs

Carson may well have been worth something resembling that salary but neither Leno nor Letterman are worth 1% of that.
Obama chokes off the economy via Marxist, dictatorial fiat —> cash sits on the sidelines —> job creators do not start or expand businesses —> fewer products & services are generated —> less advertising at lower rates is purchased from the media —> Leno's staffers are laid off or forced to take pay cuts.

Leno couldn’t give up a few more million and saved a few staffer jobs? He’s rolling in the gelt—not that he didn’t work for it but he’s very well compensated.
Comcast is probably preparing for the massive loss of viewer coming this season. “The New Normal” has all the markings of a craptacular. Same for “Animal Practice.” Maybe all the money they borrowed to keep the network alive for that year they gave Leno the primetime 10pm ET slot is coming due.
Worship of ‘the One’ winds up = Zer0. its the new not-so-fuzzy math. Leno and Oprah were riding the gravy train during the GWB years. Now they are pushing the caboose up the hill living under their King Zer0.
....how’s that “hope and change” working out for NBC?
I think Leno’s whole life can be distilled down to this:
“Classic cars for me....not for thee”!
I cannot appreciate them like he can, ergo:
“Electric cars for thee....not for me”!
(I know, he’s dabbled in electric also, but, only for image)
Leno is a stealth lib, and I really don’t give a rats rear end about his issues.
Maybe he should start done jokes about Our President like he has about all the others........viewers pick up on this stuff

Jay’s welcome to his money, but he seems to have a lot of guests who think he should either give it away or they’ll tax it away.

My best friend in the 90s worked for Leno (still does as far as I know) and was laid off. He found out and saved her job from the chopping block. His taking a pay cut sounds like Jay - he may be a lib but he does value his employees. He was very well respected when I worked for NBC. Btw, the crew listens to Rush every morning.
