John Kerry: Obama being 'swiftboated' August 17, 2012 | 4:43 pm
Paul Bedard Washington Secrets The Washington Examiner @SecretsBedard
Sen. John Kerry, the 2004 Democratic presidential candidate on Friday charged that critics are trying to "swiftboat" President Obama with false and "ridiculous" claims and that Mitt Romney is a foreign policy rookie who embarrassed himself during a recent trip to London.
In a letter to Obama's supporters, he railed on the charges Obama has been hit with, including those from the so-called "birthers."
The attacks, he said, "remind me all too well of the notorious 'Swift Boat' attacks I faced in the 2004 campaign." He was referencing devastating charges from fellow Vietnam War veterans questioning his service.
In the note, he also slapped Romney for being a foreign policy novice and potential presidential disaster. "Republicans have a candidate with absolutely no foreign policy experience, who thinks Russia is our 'number one geo-political foe' and who is advised by people who think -- and have repeatedly said -- the Soviet Union and Czechoslovakia are countries that still exist. Romney's two major foreign policy speeches never even mentioned Al Qaeda once, and he's prone to stumbles when he steps onto the foreign policy stage. He can't even manage to visit London without causing an international incident!"
Below is Kerry's note:

(D-MA) US Senator John Kerry-Heinz paid 6½% federal income taxes in 2004 - less than half the income tax that Mitt Romney has paid.
John “Hey - I thought I was Irish” Kerry-Heinz married into a 3.2 billion dollar fortune ($3,200,000,000) after dumping his 1st wife - who was only worth a dinky 6 million dollars ($6,000,000).

So, by implication, the charges against Kerry made by the Swift Boat Veterans were "false" and "ridiculous," right?
Good point.
Swift boating should be defined as the exposing of a poltroon who inflates his biography.
This is often confused, quite deliberately by the mainstream media, with "borking" which should be defined as "attack viciously a candidate or appointee, especially by misrepresentation in the media. According to William Safire in The New York Times.
Our mission on FreeRepublic should be to "Swift boat" the unworthy and to prevent the "borking" of the worthy.
The problem for us conservatives is that we seem to be losing the postmortem battle over not just the definition of Swift boating but the actual facts of John Kerry's war record inflation. If one forms his opinion on this event strictly from what one finds on the net, it is difficult to come to the conclusion that the Swift Boaters did not libel John Kerry. We saw much the same phenomenon in which the people who watched the Anita Hill hearings concluded that she was lying but after the media relentlessly dinged away on Clarence Thomas the people ceased to believe the evidence of their own eyes.
John Kerry is a pussy who doesn't even have the balls to point out who funded the not-so Swifties.

And there are no doubts (even Pelousy admitted it) that the White House has been leaking operational intelligence information, to the detriment of US national security, though it does make Obama look like a "tough guy" to his base.
Who cares if it damages our relationships with foreign intelligence agencies, loses valuable intelligence assets (probably imprisoned, tortured, and killed), and endangers our intelligence and military operatives.
I seem to recall the NY Slimes screaming bloody murder about a certain Valerie Plame's name being revealed. I remember them demanding heads on pikes! Where is their outrage about all these current leaks?

Isnt the definition of Swift Boating to be telling the truth? The Dims seem to think it is about telling non truths.
++++++++++++
Swiftboating, by the universal agreement of the MSM, is telling lies about your political opponent with John Kerry being the Poster Child of the victim class.
Of course we all understand that the stories told about John Kerry in 2004 by the Swiftboaters were true but that is just a minor bump in the road for the MSM.
The facts are that with very few exceptions, none of which come to mind, the MSM controls the language of politics. They add new words and phrases to the political vocabulary as the need arises and there seems to be very little that we can do about it.
“In the note, he also slapped Romney for being a foreign policy novice and potential presidential disaster.”
And Obama’s foreign policy experience was...?
And it only took John Catsup 96 hours or so to catch on. And by, the way, didn’t John tell us during his campaign that, his first day in office, he would be on a plane going somewhere to apologize on behalf of the American people?
Yeah ... but nobody’s listening to him anymore.
Obama being ‘swiftboated’ is like saying Teddy Kennedy was responsible for the drowning death of Marry Jo Kopectne.
Oh, and people never forget.
Correct, and the libs always complain about how the swift boat vets marked a low point in negative campaigning. To libs telling the truth=negative campaigning. Never mind that Obama calls his opponents criminals or tax cheats with no evidence to back it up, that isn't negative or corrupt at all.

Swift Move, John
Well, to be fair, in 1981 when travel from the USA to Pakistan was banned he did travel there under a foreign passport.
And then there are those pesky reports he went to Russia where he attended the KGB Charm School for sleeper agents and moles.
Thought he retired and moved to France. No such luck.
