The restatement is that pride in principle always comes in first. The pride trumps reason to the point it can not be transcended without total loss of face.

The inability to overcome pride in belief transcends the threat, the major genuine threat to being conservative and of America that is Obama.

Deciding to support the Romney-Ryan ticket was not an easy thing for me to do, but it was the right thing to do because I love my Country first and will not stand by and condemn her to another 4 years of 0bama. That I cannot and will not do.
