23 LGBT leaders condemn FRC shooting

WASHINGTON, August 15, 2012 (LifeSiteNews.com) – Twenty-three organizations supporting gay rights have condemned a shooting at the Family Research Council headquarters Wednesday morning, saying that although the motive of the attack hasn’t been clearly established, the leaders “utterly reject and condemn” such violence.

“We were saddened to hear news of the shooting this morning at the offices of the Family Research Council. Our hearts go out to the shooting victim, his family, and his co-workers,” said the leaders in a statement Wednesday afternoon, hours after the shooting took place.

One security guard employed by the pro-family conservative group was shot in the arm after confronting a heavily armed man who attempted to enter the group’s headquarters, reportedly while making inflammatory statements about FRC’s views. The suspected shooter is in custody, while the guard, identified as head security guard Leo Johnson, is in stable condition, according to D.C. police.

Fox News reports that sources have told them that the shooter “may” have been carrying a Chick-Fil-A bag. Tony Perkins, the head of FRC, had spoken out in favor of Chick-Fil-A CEO Dan Cathy’s statements in support of traditional marriage.

The statement from LGBT rights leaders said that, “The motivation and circumstances behind today’s tragedy are still unknown, but regardless of what emerges as the reason for this shooting, we utterly reject and condemn such violence.

“We wish for a swift and complete recovery for the victim of this terrible incident.”

Signatories include Wayne Besen of Truth Wins Out (TWO), Dr. Eliza Byard of the Gay, Lesbian & Straight Education Network (GLSEN), Chad Griffin of the Human Rights Campaign (HRC), Jennifer Chrisler of the Family Equality Council, and Evan Wolfson of Freedom to Marry.

LGBT groups such as Truth Wins Out and HRC routinely characterize FRC as “a certified anti-gay hate group” for its stance against redefining marriage, and have encouraged boycotts of businesses that fund the conservative group as supporting “hate.” In 2010 the Southern Poverty Law Center endorsed opponents’ characterization of FRC as a “hate group.”

Of course LGBTs condemn the violence. They know all too well how verbal and litigation tactics work so much better, and are far easier. Do NOT be deceived by them!

I was sickened by the sight of Republicans racing to microphones to blame this shooting on hate speech emanating from the LGBT community.

Wait a minute . . .

It worse than that. It turns out that he wasn’t just gay, he was also african-american. I wonder how, exactly, they will disseminate this incident on the news. If the shooter did not have a horrible childhood (their typical excuse for bad behavior from groups they support) they are scr**ed!

I give them credit for this. They ... well I cannot say MANNED UP... they... oh crap I cannot come up with the right phrase.

Okay, let's keep it simple. They did the right thing.

LOL - yes, they did.

But don’t be too quick to praise them, because although condemning physical violence, they have for years wreaked havoc with all manner of litigious and bullying behavior. Easy to condemn violence when you have a host of other weaponry at your beck.

From kiss ins to shoot outs and broadcasts over New Black Panther Radio of threats of violence - Obama’s army is restless.

Hypocritical ass wads.
You label people that support marriage for what it is and has been for 2 thousands years a hate group but then abhor the violence that befalls them.
The people have woken up. You are not fooling them any more.

LGBTs are officially a hate group today. They are potentially a terrorist threat to anyone of Christian persuasion.

The GLBT crowd are a clear and present danger. That's just one guy, but that was DC, and guns are highly regulated, and there he had a gun, 30 rounds of ammunition, and he was inside a building where his probable victims worked.

Time to take away their guns and give them to Conservatives to defend themselves. Go gay bar to gay bar demanding the weapons. Call it a short and long arm inspection or something. They'll know!

I’ll give them credit for this. It would be nice if in addition to this they tone down the boycotts and hate campaigns against anyone that disagrees with them.

An original AP article on this guy was headlined: 'Shooting suspect was volunteering at LGBT center'

When you search Google by that headline, you see that it was run in all kinds of online venues:
* Miami Herald
* Boston.com
* USNEWS.com
* MyFoxHouston.com
* MSNBC.com
* 13ABC.com
* etc.

Then, when you click on the same AP article at these venues, you see that AP -- and all these venues and more -- changed the headline to: 'Official: Suspect criticized group before shooting

The shooting itself almost becomes an afterthought to what AP deems the most important part of the story: That a certain group needed to be 'criticized'

And, of course, 'tis not PC among the liberals to associate a shooter with the LGBT movement...so, of course, that headline was dropped in favor of almost blaming FRC.

Outrageous AP...

From the article: Our hearts go out to the shooting victim, his family, and his co-workers...

Well, given that the shooter was rumored to have two 15-round ammo packs with him -- in addition to the bullets in the gun -- and that he could have had dozens of victims...

Where's the call among the LGBT to have a "candlelight" vigil outside the FRC building to make good on this "our hearts..." claim???

Ya better believe the reverse would be so had the LGBT been targeted by a nut job.

Of course LGBTs condemn the violence

Yeah...THESE LGBT groups do...there's a whole LOT more than 23 in this nation...I mean, some states have hundreds...D.C. does...there are THOUSANDS of LGBT groups in this nation...yet only 23 could muster enough condemnation to go public on a weekday.

Almost sounds like what happens when some Muslim terrorist does a terrorist act. 23 "peaceful" Islamic groups come out to publicly object; the rest either are silent, or privately rejoicing.

Typical Liberals, wonder if the shooter was a mind-numbed robot who took his orders from Obama code words?
