(CBS News) Despite conservative enthusiasm surrounding the announcement that Paul Ryan has been tapped as Mitt Romney's presidential running mate, a new Gallup tracking poll shows that the presumptive GOP nominee has not benefited from any material bounce in its poll since the pick was made public.

According to the survey, 47 percent of registered voters surveyed in the four day period following Romney's announcement said they supported Romney, while 45 percent said they would vote for President Obama. In the four days prior to the announcment, 46 percent backed Romney and 45 percent backed Mr. Obama.

I’m with holding any concern - one way or the other - until after the convention. Once Ryan sees extended prime-time coverage - polling after that will be telling...

I heard yesterday (Levin?) the Lame Stream Networks (ABC-CBS-NBC) will be limiting their coverage to one-hour per night from 10-11 pm Eastern with commentators giving their (left-wing) spin on the day's events and no doubt cut and paste (i.e. worst case video and gaffes). Don't expect any live coverage except from the cable networks (and maybe CSPAN).

Actually, I think that Romney was looking to shore up his standing with the GOP Base rather than woo independents or the undecided. So, one would not expect to see a “jump” in the polls. He is not “liked or trusted” by most of the conservative base. They aren't voting for him, they are voting against Obama. You don't win elections that way.

Picking Ryan was his attempt to convince the “conservatives” in the GOPs base that he isn't a “liberal” and does care about conservative issues. Based upon the response I have seen here on FR, I would say he has accomplished what he intended. The base here seem to be very excited by the pick. Many have moved from being ABO to pro-Ryan (Romney wins support by default).

Now, that being stated. I agree fully with Jim Robinson that I still will not vote for Romney in the general election. I will only vote for conservatives. I see his picking Ryan as a cynical ploy to fool “lukewarm” conservatives to be excited about the ticket as Palin did for McCain. It won't work on me. However, I must admit it is working on others here. So, to give the devil his due (literally), one must acknowledge Romney was shrewd in his pick of Ryan....although I still think he is playing you all for fools.

46 plus 1 is 47. That is a bounce even if it is a small one. If Romney wins by 15, we can thank Vice President Ryan.

“No bounce? Since the announcement, Romney has gone three consecutive days leading in the Gallup. When was the last time that’s occurred?”

Polls are a blank slate upon which the liberal media can paint any picture it likes. When it wants to shape opinion, it conducts a slanted poll (oversampling democraps or merely using adults/registered voters). When it can’t slant a poll, it simply ignores it or searches for some poll, any poll that gives the desired result. That poll is then reported as gospel. For example,Gallup has been polling just the opposite of what See B.S. reports in this story for days. Thus, See B.S. merely ignored the trend of Romney leading in the polls and spun this story. No mention of any other polls. No siree Bob, this is the only poll there is and it says Romney is in trouble. Ryan was a loser pick.

I call taking in over 7 MILLION dollars in 2 days a more accurate measure of just how much the Ryan pick means - That’s a concrete fact -

polls that are heavy on the dem sample - not so much...

Is no one questioning the varacity of the pools - or suspicioning that these are skewed as the iibs are in panic mode

If the main reason for making his pick was to cater to oh-so-smart people like you, he could have easier picked someone from Florida or other more crucial states.

I think we're seeing here is the Romney is a smart CEO - ‘hire’ people who as smart or smarter than you are to help carry the ship of state.

Say what you will, Romney is a savvy business man. This pick bodes well for future staffing - He knows how to pick competent people that he can then delegate to do their jobs.

I'm anxious to hear who he may have lined up for his cabinet. We need grownups back in the WH.

We could use a bit more of that in FR too.

Too much holier than thou. BOTTOM LINE, folks. WE get the Socialist out or we lose our county and live the rest of our lives under Socialism - and watch our kids and grandkids bent under with lives of desperation and fear...and ‘financial equality” = EVERYONE - but the elite - equally dirt poor.

If obumble gets back in - and you didn't vote to stop him - puff your righteous chest up all you want, you will be complicit in killing our country.

And don't even bother flaming me as a RomneyBot - he was FAR from my first choice. But I love my country first. Romney/Ryan is our ticket. That is what is. WE get them in - or we're letting 'bumbles win by default. Don't fool yourself otherwise. Indeed, you may not even be as omnipotent as you think. Myself, I'm putting my trust in God.

“Myself, I’m putting my trust in God.”

I am too. So, I guess we don’t worship the same God? The God I serve doesn’t approve of abortion, homosexuality, etc. All things that Romney is known for supporting...I leave Ryan out of this...He looks like the real deal. Oh, and I also know my God doesn’t approve of the heresy of Mormonism. So, how can I vote for someone who supports things my God doesn’t and still say I’m “trusting in Him?” Well, obviously I could not.

So, obviously we serve a different God, or you aren’t really putting your “trust” in Him as you state. I am not so foolish to jump into oncoming traffic and state “I’m trusting God.” Most would agree that is not “faith”, it is arrogant presumption outside the revealed word of God. IMO voting for a candidate, Romney, that has been rabidly for things God opposes, and than stating, “I’m trusting God.” Isn’t genuine faith, it is arrogant presumption.

Whatever, the point of my original post was that Romney was shrewd to shore up the base of the party. Even if it doesn’t work on a very small minority like myself. I realize I am a very small minority in the party.

BTW - I’m not pinging Jim to get his help. He won’t do that. I just want him to be aware of the amazing things those voting for Romney will claim to justify their actions.

I agree. I don’t see how a christian conservative can pull the lever FOR a lying, baby-killing statist.

I would add this: Romney also picked Ryan to hide Romneycare behind the smokescreen of The Ryan Plan.
