Just 10 percent of Americans approve of the job Congress is doing, according to a Gallup poll released Tuesday, tying the lowest mark in the 38 years the poll has been conducted.
That number was previously reached this past February, but bounced back a bit in subsequent months.
Eighty-three percent of Americans disapprove of Congress, the poll shows.

Of the 3,914 bills that have been introduced in Congress so far this year, just 61 have become law less than 2 percent.
Last year, after Republicans took control of the House, Congress passed just 90 bills. Only one other time in history, in 1995, has Congress failed to pass at least 125 new laws.
Not even the so-called "do-nothing Congress" of 1948 passed as few laws as the present one, USA Today says.

That high? I'm shocked.
Vote early Vote often, Support your TEA Party candidates, accept no cheap imitations, Oh and Bring your photo ID!
A House divided can not stand .. or such. ;-)
It would be funny if, instead of directing public dissatisfaction away from the president and towards the House as intended, this news boosted support for the TEA Party.
It doesn’t matter if they pass any bills or not The First Dictator will decress anything he wants and no one stops him. How shameful that we have squandered our freedom like this!
make that “decree”, please
sometimes blockage and gridlock is your friend.
considering Harry Reid never produced a budget in the Senate the RINO GoP-e has been fighting a holding action in both gubamental organs..
while Obama has spent the Mother Lode and a few more on so much pie in the sky socialism..
and the electoral results and prevailing political keep pointing Right..
opportunities to seize the reins back from a runaway team of mules headed over the fiscal cliff are better than they have been for awhile.
Giddyup!
Yeah, 10% because they’ve let Obama do whatever he wants. Bring impeachment and watch their numbers go up, way up
Good!
For example, look at the number of times per day someone in FreeRepublic, where we KNOW THESE THINGS, mistakes the House of Representatives for "Congress". They just whizz right on by the Senate to kvetch about the House ~ which has usually already passed the beneficial legislation the complainant thinks is so necessary.
This is a totally meaningless poll.
There are 435 members of the House and 100 members of the Senate. About 1/3 of the Senate is up for reelection. All of the House members will face the voters.
Current projections are for a 2 seat pickup for the Dems in the House and a 4 to 5 seat pickup for the GOP in the Senate.
The problem is that people hate Congress but it’s YOUR Congressman they don’t like. They love their own.
Go figure.
Of all the worthless polls out there, this is the most worthless. We hate Congress but rarely kick them out since we LOVE our own Congressmen and Senators.
Not me since mine are worthless Pond Scum although Kirk has been felled by a stroke and can’t do much damage at present.
Aha, conclusive proof that 10% of our population is clueless and uninformed.
Exactly! All this is, is an effort to suppress voters thinking of voting for the Republicans in the House.
Most folks vote for their old Senator, but the Democrats desperately want the House back.
Isn’t going to happen though...
I think they are oversampling friends family and employees...

Why is this fact assumed to be bad? The question on many surveys is: Do you approve or disapprove congress?
It’s hard to answer. Blocking democrat power moves is a good thing. I have never judged congress on the amount of bills they pass. More of anything is not necessarily better. We could probably do without most of them and for the most part they restrict freedom and add needless regulation, often growing government in the process.
Congressional inaction usually is a good thing in my view.
