An overwhelming majority of New Yorkers don't want politicians grilling Chick-fil-A.
A Quinnipiac University poll being released today found that voters by a lopsided 83-11 percent margin feel elected officials shouldn't try to discourage people from patronizing the fast food chain just because its CEO openly opposes gay marriage.
By a similar 82-12 percent margin, they called on pols not to interfere in the government permitting process for the popular chicken sandwich shops.
"New Yorkers may disagree with what you say, but they defend your right to sell chicken," said poll director Maurice Carroll.
City Council Speaker Christine Quinn, who is openly gay, sparked an uproar a couple of weeks ago when she fired off a letter to NYU demanding it get rid of its Chick-fil-A branch on the grounds that businesses that discriminate don't belong here

Also this scary quote, that could be out of 1930's nazi Germany by the CEO the gay magazine the Advocate, Paul Colichman.
As the CEO of the worlds leading LGBT media company, freedom of speech (even when we disagree with it), remains an important concern. However, a hate policy that will inevitably create a significant nuisance for both the university and its tenants goes beyond the realm of free speech and enters the realm of disruptive business practice.

Did not provide direct link, due to FR policy, but switch Chick Fil A with Jew, and you have a modern day Krystalnacht in the making by the modern radical American homosexuals.
It’s Wednesday - Chick-Fil-A day, and my co-workers and I all plan to pick some up on the way home.
We must be rubes and hicks....all working on that low-level physics stuff.
Wish we could be as sophisticated as those New York liberals. /s
Even with the mind-trick of turning “for traditional marriage” into “anti-gay”?
You mean people are smarter than politicians think they are?
Yep. I had never eaten at a CFA until this thing. I’m a Wednesday regular now.
Looks like I'll have to take up this habit.
I'm hoping/betting that you are right. I'm thinking that Axelrod spent a sleepless night after watching the YouTube videos of the CFA turnout on August 1.
The mindset is one of liberal political correctness.
Yes, we are now in a world, in which if you support traditional marriage, you actually hate a homosexaul.
We see this on other issues too.
If you oppose abortion on demand as espoused by Roe vs. Wade, you hate women.
If you oppose the birth control mandate from the Obama administration, you also hate women.
If you oppose homosexual marriage, you hate homosexuals.
If you oppose illegal immigration, and want to see immigration laws enforced, you are xenophobic and anti-immigrant. You even hate legal immigrants under the most extreme interpretation by the politically correct crowd.
If you oppose affirmative action, you are racist.
If you oppose the whole global warming thing, you are against science and against scientific research. You want to return us to the dark ages.
If you oppose draconian EPA regulations, you are actually in favor of dirty air, dirty water, and you want to see the environment spoiled.
And so it goes. We have reached a point where you are not allowed to disagree or discuss nuances of the politically correct issues. Homosexual marriage has become a politically correct liberal cause. Thus, you must support it, otherwise you hate homosexuals.
To be clear, I have not done fast food since 1997, with the rare use of Subway on road trips. So, for me, this is a Big F*****’ Deal. ;)
BTW, it is the ONLY fast food I do. I hope once a week doesn’t kill me. ;)
It’s the classic bait-and-switch. Here’s another one:
If you disagree with Obama’s politics and policies, you hate him because of his skin color.
These gay protesters know that it takes a rooster & a hen to make the chicken.....right?
I publicly challenge Quinn to cite ANY discrimination by Chik-fil-A.
And just wait until those people get a taste of CFA's lemonade or peach milk shakes!

And the way they start that is by demonizing anyone with whom they disagree, as you so eloquently put.

Encourage Davidson students to wear CFA hats, T-Shirts, etc. Freedom of SPEECH!!!
Very true.
Sometimes liberals openly admit that this is what they are doing.
For example, Al Gore says “the debate is over” about global warming.
First of all, we’re all supposed to be in awe about his alleged knowledge and expertise.
Then, when such a guru declares that the debate is over, it sets it up so that anyone who would question a guru such as Al Gore is, by definition, someone out of the lunatic fringe. It’s impossible to discuss the issues involved when the liberal side takes such positions.
That’s going to leave a mark.
Had Chick fil A yesterday. They have folks outside taking orders to make the drive through move faster. It was lined up around the building during lunch through the drive thru. Then this morning driving by it was packed again for breakfast. The quality of the workers is far superior than the local McD and Burger King. They have a good operation.
The poll doesn't say that Maurice, it may say that most New Yorkers don't support gay marriage even if their legislature did and that is what really scares ya'll at Quinnie
“...’New Yorkers may disagree with what you say, but they defend your right to sell chicken,’ ...”
Then again, maybe they don’t disagree with what was said. Maybe they’ve been made to think something is wrong with them for thinking what they think, so they pretend to think something else. Now they have an opportunity to express what they think, without admitting they are thinking it.
