I think its a very bold choice. And an exciting and interesting pick. Its going to elevate the campaign into a debate over big ideas. It means Romney-Ryan can run on principles and provide some real direction and vision for the Republican Party. And probably lose. Maybe big, said former President George W. Bush senior adviser Mark McKinnon.
Joked another: The most popular phrase in Washington right now is: I love Paul Ryan, but
And the more pessimistic strategists dont even feign good cheer: They think the Ryan pick is a disaster for the GOP. Many of these people dont care that much about Romney they always felt he faced an improbable path to victory but are worried that Ryans vocal views about overhauling Medicare will be a millstone for other GOP candidates in critical House and Senate races.
The most cutting criticism of Ryan, shared only by a handful of strategists, is that Ryan isnt ready to be president or doesnt come across as ready. A youthful man who looks even younger than his 42 years, Ryan could end up labeled as Sarah Palin with a PowerPoint presentation, several operatives said.
He just doesnt seem like he can step into the job on Day One, said the strategist, who professed himself a Ryan fan.
This is the day the music died, one Republican operative involved in 2012 races said after the rollout. The operative said that every House candidate now is racing to get ahead of this issue.

Look to Rinos John McCain, Olympia Snowe, etc
Unlike 2008 everyone from Rush to Bill Kristol is ripping them a new one for this today. Hopefully our side learned their lesson watching what was done to Palin.
And Rove.
Like 2016 will matter if Obama gets a second term
So radioactive... that Romney is now leading in Gallup for the first time since early July. LOL!
Rasmussen: Romney 47 Obama 44
Gallup: Romney 47 Obama 45
I call BS on this report. All political pros know that the VP choice has very little, if anything, to do with the candidate winning or losing.
It wasn’t Palin’s fault in 2008, just like Joe Biden didn’t win it for Zero. Same thing with Cheney and Breck Boy and on and on...
Let me guess, the usual suspects, Schmidt and Wallace..so who are they tanking the campaign for this time..Jeb Bush in 2016? Unreal how GOP Establishment RINOS would rather lose an election because their boy wonder didnt get chosen for VP
Leftists have infiltrated every part of our government and political system. It only makes sense that some of them currently function as republican advisers and campaign operatives. McCain had a few of them.
I said he had to FIRE THEM ALL and that was no joke.
Even then that won't stop them ~ to do that he needs to abandon the race and leave it to the Convention.
In the meantime this same crowd needs to be EXPELLED bodily from the Republican party.
So many unnamed sources, so little time.
I agree losing was not Palin’s fault. But winning would have been Palin’s fault.
This is the day the music died,
Ya. Because Romney was just coasting to the win...
I want to know the names of these pinheads. I want them fired and I want the people who hired them, fired.

My impression is that a large bunch of self-designated “conservatives” really want another 12 years or so of Obama and a a caliphate.
For my take on Rove Rove Revisited, and some of the links therefrom.
Ryan is an excellent choice, if we will only rally to his support.
William Flax
If Mitt Rmoney wants us to believe he has the chops to be President of the United States then he had better SHUT THIS DOWN NOW!
More Politico BS. If “sources” won’t go on the record....there aren’t any.
“0bamacare cuts over $700 billion from MediCare in Jan. If you’re 55 or older, the Ryan plan doesn’t affect you at all.” Wow. Such a complicated message.
People are scared of loosing their SS and other government benefits. Look how radioactive it is on a “conservative” site. Ryan's budget is a great start, but not good election fodder.
However, his budget wasn't that radical. We will need much more radical cuts to become fiscally solvent.
