Chris Christie, the sometimes abrasive but always entertaining governor of New Jersey, is set to be announced Tuesday as the keynote speaker for the Republicans' national convention later this month.

The scheduling decision was first reported online by USA Today early Tuesday and confirmed by Republican officials directly involved in convention planning. The Republican officials spoke on the condition of anonymity because the formal announcement was not planned until later Tuesday.

I wont be watching any of it, unless there is a change in Gov Palin`s invitation to speak.
Nothing to stop Paul Ryan from saying to Mitt (during peanut butter/honey sandwich), hey Mitt I really feel bad about my good friend Sarah being excluded from the convention, are you sure that`s a good idea?
He could say that
Being godless and a KNOWN LIAR is having more baggage than a person wanting to be president of USA ought to have - in a third world nation it would work.
I’m predicting the lowest viewership EVER by any measure for convention coverage for BOTH parties. The rats are probably going to have to hire shills to fill the seats in the convention hall.
For what this is worth, the Independents, wobbly RINOs, and even some liberals in my office are VERY impressed with Christie. I know that doesn’t do anything to burnish his conservative credentials such as they are, but a lot of people may end up watching the convention at the very least.
Gov. Crispy Cream of NJ is absolutely the wrong OPTIC for the party. He will represent a party which is out of touch with starving poor people.
As was posted yesterday, lead cowboy at the RINO Rodeo.
“He will represent a party which is out of touch with starving poor people.”
Maybe he will be a visual sign of solidarity with all the obese poor people.
Anyone who is so morbidly obese is mentally ill.400 lbs of PORK in a barrel is the wrong message for the Party
They let this non-photogenic ego-maniac islamo-loving Noreasterner speak (and Key Note at that), and won’t let an accomplished true blue patriot like Sarah Palin near the microphone.
Perfect choice. We may not agree with everything he believes, but remember this is a television show, it’s not really a convention (although it could be). Christie will be the talk of the country after this.
Oregon too, I think. The only two states.
Yep.
Agreed 101%. That PMO.
“...this is a television show...”
Yep; prime time TV programming, pure and simple.
How then do you explain him having a 56% approval rating in NJ? The left successfully defined him as anti-public employee union, he vetoed a gay marriage bill, and yet, he managed to overcome all the attacks and post that approval rating. Fat body and all.
For all his policy flaws on other issues, the guy is an absolute master at speaking hard economic truths, and making tough solutions appealing to the average voter. I wouldn't want him as the nominee, but in terms of changing the debate and giving momentum to the Ryan approach to budgeting, he's the best possible pick.

He did lose a bunch of weight already. Seems he can’t keep it off, for one reason or another. Don’t think that’s a reason to sling mud at the guy. He’s the best thing to happen to NJ in a long, long time.
I wouldn’t mind seeing him in the Speaker of the House role.
Sarah’s still being treated more as a ‘threat’ than anything else. Can you imagine what the reaction would be from the ‘people’ on the floor if she were to give a keynote? They know they would have an unquestionably hard time duplicating that on closing night! In a way, I don’t blame them from avoiding having Romney being upstaged!
Good grief.
