How close to its campus?
The Eagle, the student newspaper, reports that the incident appears to have started on Fidelity Street near George Bush Dr., not far from the A&M Former Student’s Association building.
Other media reports say the shooter apparently had barricaded himself into a building.
“Seaton says the shooting happened within a block or two of campus sometime before 12:45 p.m. She says police have one suspect in custody.”
Several blocks. By the athletic field. Was definitely NOT ON campus! Didn’t even have anything to do with the school. All references to Texas A&M should be removed from the headline and should just identify it as occurring at Bryan College Station. On a side street in a very quiet neighborhood mostly occupied by college kids.
From my understanding, this was not at the college. It was some guy being evicted, just gone through a divorce, had recently lost his job.
Just another ploy by the media to make this look like a “Campus Shooting”.
Couple of blocks from campus, near the football stadium. Constable was serving eviction papers to some loser. Loser decided to start shooting; killed the Constable. A few others were injured. Shooter barricaded himself in the house but was later arrested.
