You can hold your terlet fire with this bit of reality. There are over 300 million privately owned firearms in this country. That’s more , incidentally, than all the rest of the world combined, including everyone else’s militaries. Just for the sake of comparison I’m gonna assume that every one of the 300 million guns has at least a 20 round box of ammo to go with it. That would be 6 billion rounds of private ammo——and that, in turn, would be around 2,000 rounds each that every federal employ including the military, would be facing if someone in Washington gets really stupid.——————————————They will try to disarm the rest of the entire world before they try it here for this exact reason. Chuckie Schumer and all his friends understand this. Obamuzzie may not but he’ll be leading his own parade by himself if he gets clumsy. Heavy handed federal krap will not be tolerated past the first incident-—remember Ruby Ridge and Waco for instance. The Fedz were about one more gunshot away, in each case, from getting their skins dried on the line.

I can understand our reasoning and I would hope that your scenario would be the case. However, your comment about something like Waco being a catalyst isn't evidence of a wholesale response - bad sentiment left over but action? No. The government will, against law, contrive ways to identify gun owners of certain weapons, by requiring all gunshops to submit the Forms 4473 for review. They have, in fact, tried this in several selected locations with no legal basis to see how gullible the gunshop owners were.

So, 2nd term Obama issues an Executive Order to such, and many gunshop owners will comply as NRA and other 2A groups start a lengthy legal challenge.

Meanwhile, Obama has the full information on the 'assault weapon' owners who bought via a Form 4473. Separated, dispersed, and largely alone in a legal sense, how many of these people do you think will not comply with a confiscation order. Remember that California did EXACTLY that a dozen or so years ago with certain types of rifles.

Only those weapons that are off the Form 4473 grid are essentially safe from this. My guess is that 80-90 percent of owners illegally targeted by this process would hand them over. Despite the talk Obama is an idiot, he and his ilk are far from it. They would not dare risk a high profile event like Waco, or anything near it. Their actions will be near-stealth, and the MSM will keep it off Americans' radars for as long as possible.

That said my FRiend, like you (I'm assuming), I won't be turning in any weapons. Worst case, they will be passed off to others, secreted, or just plain lost in a horrible boating accident.
