President Obama to Call NASA Mars Rover Team Today [Failure to try and steal spotlight]

Among those enthralled last week by NASA's landing of the Curiosity rover on Mars was President Barack Obama, apparently.

To show his support, President Obama will call members of the mission control team at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, Calif., today (Aug. 13) at 11 a.m. EDT (8 a.m. PDT). Scientists at JPL designed and built the car-size Curiosity, and will direct its two-year mission on the Red Planet.

Maybe he is going to chastise them for not being sufficiently diverse.

He’ll be checking up to make sure the Martian muzzlem outreach program is going well. He’ll also be asking which way they point the rover during muzzlem prayer time, since Mecca isn’t on Mars. And how well does the call to prayer work in the low pressure Martian atmosphere? And where are they going to place the mini-mosque on Mars?
