Just ahead of this evening's Closing Ceremonies, London firefighters have controlled a massive blaze they say is the biggest the British capital has faced in years, reports the BBC. The fire broke out at an east London recycling center 7 miles from the Olympic Park, reports the AP, but with favorable winds blowing smoke in the opposite direction, organizers said it would not affect the city's adieu to its Games. "It's certainly a dramatic end to the Olympics for the London Fire Brigade," said the city's fire commissioner. More than 200 firefighters had been called in.
Shame if something were to...happen to them.
Thank goodness it isn't terrorism!
Party like its 1666...
O RLY... and nearly one year to the day after the worst riots and arson in British history.
Recycling Center.....perfect, thank you Greens.
All that “planet-saving” wiped out in a few hours by that smelly, horrible, toxic, lung-destroying, mutation-causing, CO2 producing, global warming, “planet-killing” smoke.
Hopefully they were able to put a giant cover over it and capture all the CO2 from the fire.
Britain deserves a lot of credit for heading off any terrorist acts during the Games. Many here were sure they couldn’t do it.
A diversion?
No! No! No, folks! it’s part of their closing ceremonies. Now they’re going to show us their wondrous fire department.
The Brits call it the ‘Fire Brigade’’.
At a recylcing center?
Not to worry, it’s a green fire......
