White House spokesman Jay Carney sought to reassure Israel on Friday when he said in a press briefing that the U.S. has real-time information on the Iranian nuclear program.
“We have ‘eyes’ inside the nuclear facilities and we will know in real time when and if Iran decides to cross the threshold and develop nuclear weapons,” Carney said, according to a report by Channel 10 News.
Carney’s remarks were made in response to recent assessments in Israel, especially those of Defense Minister Ehud Barak, according to which the Americans understand that the Iranian threat is becoming an increased concern.
“The president remains committed to preventing Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons,” he was quoted as having said.
“We are leading an international move to enforce the sanctions, which even the president of Iran has called the most severe sanctions ever imposed on a country,” Carney continued. “Hardly a week goes by in which we do not worsen the sanctions.”
He reiterated that Israel and the U.S. are coordinated on the Iranian nuclear issue, saying, “We share Israel’s concerns. That’s why we are directing this concentrated and unprecedented effort to cause the regime in Tehran to change its behavior.”
A report in Ha'aretz on Thursday, citing American officials, said that a new U.S. report indicates that Iran has made a great deal of progress in its nuclear program in recent months.
According to the report, President Barack Obama has seen the National Intelligence Estimate (NIE) report, prepared by U.S. government intelligence groups.

Nobody can be so stupid as to telegraph to the enemy the location of one's own spies. Even the village idiot of affirmative action wouldn't do something this dumb would he?
My rule of thumb is that they are 5-10% higher than what is reported. The last levels I saw were 50-60% , so I future we are at 65-70%. Still not bomb level, but getting closer. The Israelis will start squirming as it gets higher.
We don’t need “eyes” in Iran’s nuclear facilities, we need explosives inside Iran’s nuclear facilities.

This announcement is acknowledgement that the sanctions are not having an effect on the nuclear program.
They took credit for stuxnet that has a ring of truth even though not true. They are now attempting to introduce paranoia where all in power mistrust everyone else. This too will fail. Obama and his queer band are just too matuer for the big leagues

I think they try to be “too cute by one” and they do not realize what they are doing. They have hardly ever had to be responsible for information that can hurt anyone else.
While I never held a high classification in the military, I have been aware of significant information in the business world. Information about mergers, layoffs, reorganizations, etc. While speaking of that information would not have lead to deaths....it would have lead to loss of jobs or changes in strategic direction. Certainly it would have impacted the company’s revenues.
When you are in a position of “knowing” you need to be sure you understand what that responsibility means. When you have never had to deal with that in public or private life, you can treat it casually and the result is never good.
Pay attention to fringe activities to these things. Read papers and web sites from the middle east. You will see that things near the area are getting a little creepy. That tells you things are moving towards a bad end.
Because of the potential sandstorm activity in the fall I believe the time is right now!
