I don't agree with you. Bush ran on social issues and won twice. Reagan ran on social issues and he won twice. Dole did not run on social issues and he lost. mccain didn't run on social issues... in fact he became so angry about Republicans telling him to push the social issues that he snapped and said, "If they want Reagan... then I'll be *** ****** Reagan". He was being sarcastic... and he lost. mitt isn't running on social issues or much of anything Conservative... blowing the Chic-Fil-A event and every other chance to call out the left on their communist march to destruction and he is behind in every poll but one.

Mark Levin is screaming about how badly romney is running his campaign. Rush Limbaugh is screaming about how mitt is blowing it. coulter attacked him just yesterday. Some want to believe otherwise but this last SCOTUS decision by roberts has stopped me dead in my tracks from ever taking anything for granted.

Yup. My standard response to those CINOs who continually decry socons and our (ostensibly) "divisive" social issues:

I understand completely and agree. Mitt cannot and should not run on social issues, hence my thoughts on the subject. Also, at the present time with the MSM carrying the DNC party line and their one-sided inobjective coverage favorable to only Obama there is no way a republican can win in a social issue based election at the present. Look at all the hysteria generated over Travon Martin/Zimmerman; or the always predictable "Tea Party shooter"; or the Ward Churchill's and the new female cookbook indian.... Then we have the anti-Christian trap, the Homo crusades, etc. My son is off to college and both he and the conservatives at my church feel it is very difficult to be anything other than a closeted Christian on most campus's today - therefore, the youth vote has been shark jumped on social issues and the DNC has won that voter segment battle - again, my feelings are that at this time the RNC candidates should be very careful entering into side shows on social issues when we don't have to. Just stay the course on the DNC's record and how they've voted, and the economy. If the RNC and conservatives get emotionally involved in the DNC's strong suit of emotional blackmale over social issues we lose everytime - it is one thing to be right yet quite another to lose an election on principle. Again, with the MSM (CNN, ABC, CBS, NBC and Hollyweird, etc.) we cannot define or win the 30-second soundbyte battle even though they are lying.... It is frustrating but I would not risk the election for any candidate by jumping on a socail bandwagon due to the fact that conservatives Get-It, and the independents are "middle-light".

On a personal note, I am emminately frustrated with the Ron Paul non-social issue or agreeement with many DNC liberal social positions, and the Ron Paul groups morphing into "Freedom Movements" and co-opting the Tea Party highground in places like Fayetteville, NC. However, they too think Mitt will lose if forced to engage on social issues as it turns them off as well as many others.

While many at FR think running of social issues is a proven winner, is it worth risking the election by side-tracking the one overriding issue of getting rid of Obama and his socialism.
